That was traumatic....

I always try to back Oliver into my garage so I can see who might be in my way as I leave the driveway (we have lots of kids in the neighborhood). Our driveway has a deep ditch on both sides that run to a drainage pond so we don't all wash away during the PNW monsoon season. I am always challenged backing up but....I am working on it. Well....I was a little over confident and not as careful as usual and my left front tire fell off the edge of the concrete with a big, scary clunk and Ollie was wedged with the front bumper on the pavement and the right rear wheel nowhere near the ground. I had to call the tow truck guy to get him out. I did not like the sounds that he made as he was being ever so gently hoisted back onto the pavement. The tow truck guy was awesome and very, very careful and very nice about my stupid incident. It was a little embarrassing as the neighbors drove by and saw my poor Oliver wedged in the ditch. He just had a little damage to the guard thing under the front bumper and nothing else scratched or messed up. Took him for a drive and he went straight has an arrow with no hands on the straight stretch and felt fine through curves so all is well but...geez....I felt bad. To some folks it's just a car that had a little incident but, I knew you all would understand how much more traumatic such a thing is with my beloved MINI.

Yes, I know the feeling. Harming my MINI would be like a case of child-abuse

Here's to a happy recovery for both you and yours.

It's not that treacherous.....that's why it was so embarrassing. Just couldnt get Ollie out of the spot without help. I thought about taking pics while he was stuck but, I was too afraid I had hurt him. We will be getting some gravel to fill in so we don't fall in again. We had a nice drive to work and back with no issues. Thanks for the sympathy.

Don't feel bad. I did the EXACT same thing when my MINI was brand new (maybe 2-3 weeks old). I was backing out of a narrow driveway and turned the wheel too hard, passenger's side tire went straight into a ditch. It took 5 people to hoist him out - no damage. Just pushed the plastic out of the way, managed to pop it back into place with no problems.
