The 2013 Mini Coupe Convertible

I'm surprised nobody has said anything about this yet (maybe because you all knew already? lol). Anyway.. BMW revealed the 2013 Mini Roadster Coupe Convertible at the NAIAS this week. Thoughts?

You mean the Mini Roadster? I love it! (partial to roadies here!)
One thing that I can't stand is the equation that drop tops are feminine.
"The 2013 Mini Roadster Is The Coupe’s Sorority Girlfriend" WTF?!?!

They also call the Coupe "The ugly one." Oh my.

I have an ugly car. Well like they say the parent (Or in this case the owner.) never thinks that and always believes it is the best looking thing out there!!

Reviewers never cease to amaze me.

Indeed. I have yet to have one person say they thought my car was ugly. And while one might say, "nobody's going to tell you that your baby is hideous," on the contrary, they're typically quite enthusiastic about its looks.

I'll take common aesthetic opinion over jaded reviewers any day of the week.

That all said... if I didn't live in Minnesota I would've kicked the Coupe to the curb for a Roadster. That is one seriously hot little automobile.

Stupid article, they can't even get the name and year of the car correct.

It is 2012 Mini Cooper Roadster not a 2013 Coupe Convertible.

Not to be rude but I'm over the roadster. They've had pictures of it for awhile now. I'm eager to see the third generation MINI hardtop :-D

Well, the year is probably an honest mistake, I mean.. Most new cars are usually a year ahead of when they say they are.. Like GM debuts cars as a 2013 Chevy Impala when it actually comes out at the mid/end of 2012. So maybe that's why they reported it wrong.. Just a thought.

and the whole "Coupe" thing is my fault.. I thought it was a coupe convertible (which technically it is) but didn't know MINI had a different name for it.

I like it and may look into getting one when they are older. It looks like a good platform that could be modified with a hard top.

I don't like anything about the styling of the Coupe but this one looks much better with the top down. My next Mini will be another Clubman (hopefully JCW) and my wife's will be a CM All4...

There have been a few 'display' roadsters making the rounds at dealerships. If you go to the MINI5280 forum below you can see pictures of the one that was in Denver this past week

If I wanted another 2 seater with no trunk space, I'd just buy a new Miata. It's cheaper, lighter, more reliable, and has 45 more hp than the justa roadster.

I test drove two Miata's before buying the MINI and the fun factor just isn't the same.
