A 2.0L JCW would be interesting but I like the look of the R56 and 1st gen cars and would be concerned about what MINI will be doing about the redesigned look of the hatch Cooper. I would also hope that they offer something like the JCW suspension as standard with the anticipated HP increase of the 2.0L engine.

All in all I am glad I went ahead with an R56 JCW. If I had waited, I would have to find alternate transportation for at least 2 years. And then I would be buying a first year run of a new model. This way I got the car I wanted last year, and in a few years if I can afford it, I will consider an F56 JCW or some other brand entirely (2012 Scion FR-S / Toyota FT-86 / Subaru anybody?).

Sounds very interesting indeed. The 1 series is one of BMW's best cars, and the Mini is just great too. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with for each design.
