Remaping ECU

Its probably been ask a hundred times, but im very new to this forum & this is my first post so please take it easy on me

Ive just done a transmission swap on my 02 Mini that had a very poorly made Automatic trans , dealer wanted millions to fix.

I just dropped in a Standard/manual trans from a 06 mini, was a easy to do swap i just had problems finding a pedal/bracket , car runs great drives well. ive put more then 100+ mile on it and ran with a charm. until yesterday it died!!!!!!!!!

I did not change any wires or computer from the auto trans, I posted some help info on another website, there reply was to remap my computer for a manual trans.

is this true & does anyone know how this is done?? any DIY out there??software?

im really want to get her back on the road asap..
Thanks

It's amazing you even got the engine started without changing any electrical.

Get a code reader and see if there are any AT related codes. The system may have shut down thinking there is a serious problem with the AT?

Everything on this car is programmed from engine to fog lights.

I don't know if a different ECU would be needed or just reprogramming the existing module(s)? You might look for on-line parts or at a dealer and compare part numbers.

The mini started right up after i jumped 2 wire near pedals...

The car does not run now, has to be the ECU telling the car the Automatic has shut down, I really need something to remap the computer.. I have a code tester but it is just that and nothing more.

you may want to check this forum posting, it does have all the info for remapping your ECU.

did you go with the 6spd. getrag??

Ive seen many do that swap also, takes about a day or two to complete.. What did you do with your transmission? sell the shell to trans shops prob. get a few $100 for it. If not take a gal. of gas and burn that rubbish, worst transmission ever made.
