Pardon the R.E.M. reference. In light of the NHSTA probe into Mini Cooper S fires and a recent tragedy experience by one of our very own, I post this.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against BMW of North America over faulty power steering pump that could result in loss of control or fires without warning.

The suit is being filed on behalf of owners/leasers of 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and/or 2009. Pretty much everyone except us newbies; we've yet to reach the fiery expiration date.

The power steering pump issue has raised alarms in the UK way before the US's NHSTA began it's own investigation.

Again, the power steering pump was cited as the leading cause.

 

 

Note that the class action lawsuit news article is over a year old...

 

Doesn't mean it's irrelevant.

Also, lawsuits of this scale are not resolved in a year. Unless I missed something and we now live in a world where swift justice is delivered on behalf of consumers against powerful corporations.
