Exhaust Rattling like a tambourine.

I wanted to check with you guys on NAM to see if this has occurred before.

I have an exhaust "tinging" noise. Sounds like it's mostly in the resonator, but it is also along the entire exhaust. Do the catalytic converters quit on this cars often? Sounds like it failed and pieces got sucked through the exhaust.

Your description sure sounds like a spent cat to me.. the catalytic element is formed as a honeycomb and when it fails will almost always crumble into smaller bits that can migrate downstream along the exhaust pipe and into resonators & even the muffler. I'm not sure what the statistics are for the typical expected lifespan for a cat are but my own experience from other vehicles that i've had is anywhere from 50K up to 120K+ miles, i suspect that the specific exhaust's design, the car's state of tune, one's driving style & available fuel quality& formulation all play a contributing role.
