Okay, we've taken possession of our new 2012 MINI!

We feel so lucky to get this car. We've been trying to get a 2011 or 2012 Pepper White without too many extras, so as to keep costs down (but it had to have the pana-roof).

My wife spotted a perfect candidate 5 hours away. As it turned out, it had just arrived at the dealer the day before - and we got it! The dealer told us they sell so fast that if we hadn't put money down on it that very day, we would have lost it.



It was a five hour drive to bring Her Majesty back and she drove like a champ. Here's the gallery (I happen to like the re-designed cockpit, similar to all other models, but a bit different).

congrats! just curious, what changed?

 

In many respects, I think it's still very much the same, but seems closer to the older style MINIs (2003) models. A bit more subdued, less show-y I think.

I cannot say I am an expert on the cockpit, but I test drove the 2008 recently and in that MINI, the console was a bit different and less intuitive.

The 2012 is, at least to my sensibilities, a little cleaner looking.

Looks like that might be the same as the 2011 dash - same speedo (to 160 with 80mph at 12 o'clock), stereo button placement, and dark colored controls. Looks good!

Looks like the air/heat controls are a bit different from the '11, not as many buttons. Doesn't look as cluttered.
