Please help

Hi everyone. I am in need for some advice/help. I'm looking into buying a used mini. Tired of my gas guzzling truck! The year range that I can afford is looking like 04-05. Thats getting in the 80k range though for mileage. I'm new to the idea of a mini therefore I know nothing about them. I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice on what to look at inside and out to make sure it's not been abused or will need work soon. I'm actually starting college so funds will be low, I don't wanna be putting money into something that is "new" to me. If it helps any I've been interested in the manual transmission. I would like an S but the turbo scares me with possible maintenance. Also how user friendly are they to work on? I like doing my own work to save money. Thanks a lot!!!!

PERSONALLY if I were in your situation, I'd look for a more reliable vehicle. 80k+ miles on a used Mini (not knowing what's been done to it before I got it) is a bit much. They break, and when they do, they're not cheap to fix (even on your own). If you buy used, only do so if you can afford a great extended warranty...

My opinion.

Look at buying something other than a MINI. If you are going to college, funds might be tight, so look for something that is cheaper to buy and repair.

Suzuki Sx4 is what you want.

If you are looking at an S of that vintage, it has a supercharger and not a turbo.
