I have a senior dog who enjoys car rides, and is way past her 'leaping into the back' days. At 65 lbs, I can't lift her in and out of the car, and the pet ramp that fits in the station wagon wouldn't leave any room in the Mini for her. Anybody out there found a ramp or pet steps that will fit? We're thinkiing of making a ramp, but wouldn't mind buyiing something ready made.
She could climb into the passenger seat, but actually prefers to lie down in the back.
Also, what have you used to fill the boot space? La Pup's rear slid into it, and she had a heck of a time getting out (hind legs don't work so well anymore)
She's is helping get rid of that new car smell!

I never had my dog in my MINI but she was pretty old when I would take her for car rides. But maybe you could let her in through the front door and push the seat up so she could climb into the back. It could be temporary while you look for a ramp. Just an idea.
Ramps?

A heavy blanket to pad the boot floor maybe?

We used a ramp similar to this:

for when one of our dogs needed surgery. We haven't used it with the MINI but we did use it for our VW Rabbit. I like it because it telescopes and locks when not in use. Both our 80 lbs Labs use it all the time now for car rides!

Update:
Got some good suggestions, and after some online searching, found a ramp that, when folded, fits in the boot! It rests on top the steel loops, and since it's about 8 inches high, it extends the back for my pup. I bungee the folded ramp down and throw a blanket on top. I still have some manuevering to do because she stumbles when climbing from the boot onto the back, but it's relief to be able to take her around when it's just me (When my husband comes, he just lifts her in and out).
