I've had my Mini for 2 years 7 mos and have only had one oil change. I have 19,000 miles on it. I tried to get an oil change after a year, but they said that I didn't have enough mileage on it. When it was 1 year 8 mos old, they finally changed the oil. Now, the service indicator states that I'm not due for another oil change until Aug of 2012 or 8,000 miles (which is what I normally drive in a year). Since, I'm turning in my (leased) car in October of this year, I won't be getting another oil change on this car, but I think I'm going to get an annual oil change on my next one even if I have to pay for it myself. (I'm going to just buy the next one rather than lease it.) After reading through the thread, I will try to negotiate with the dealer at least 3 free oil changes in 3 years prior to purchasing the new Mini and having it stated in my purchase agreement.
