2nd Gen MINI Owners:Zenons Longevity as Daily Use Daytime Running Lights

Curious to see how long the Zenons--as well as other bulbs last when DRLs are used daily. I liked the DRL on my '05 MCS--didn't use Zenon lights, used the Halogen (?) high beam. I am concerened that the constant firing up of the Zenons each time I drive my car will lead to early replacement. ( I understand they can be replaced under the 3yr maintenance warranty-but being nearly 200 miles from a dealer is an added pain).
A sampling of '07-'11 Gen 2 owners will give me an idea as to the actual longetivity of the Zenons( as well as other bulbs--fog,side,tail light) when used as DRLs. Thanks for your input. Nick

I have been using my xenons in daytime running light mode since I got the car 16 months ago. No issues of any kind. In my own unofficial survey when driving, it seems that only about 25% of people with Minis use daytime running lights.

X2 - The headlight switch has been on since before the MINI left the stealership's lot 11 months ago at the MA's recommendation and what he does on his own MINI........ This car does not commute and has nearly 10,000 miles on the odometer of mostly grocery getting and such errands - that's a lot of starts and stops and headlights on at every start-up.........

Also in the habit of using 3 buttons to start the car, ignition, then the front fogs and then the sport button. Only time I switch off sport is on the freeway so the auto will shift up to 6th gear. Save switching on the rear fogs for those pesky tailgaters.......

Love the Xenons........

In Canada the Xenons are on all the time as daytime driving lights and I've had my car since April 2009 with no issues at all. Never even thought about wear and tear on them. The car is my daily driver so its started and stopped 6+ times a day...

Hi,

We have had our clubman since Feb 2008, and the xenons are on every time we use the car. We now have 75000 kms on it, with no issues with the xenons.
