Head Gasket or rebuilt engine?

OK Team -

Fired my 2003 regular Cooper - don't ask - still getting over the bitterness. question: 2 grand for the head gasket vs 3900 for rebuilt engine or forget about it.

ps - 175k on the mini - all the other stuff still looks and operates like brand new.

Waddya think?

thanks

Very confused here how in the world is a head gasket change that expensive?

I would do some more research on shops in your area to get a better price on that...

Duv

thanks for asking for clarification. the actual cost of the headgasket is 1200 - i'm already into the shop for 6 bills based on their first attempt at replacing the diode. Engine replacement is 3300........ then I hafta add on the 600

I guess my real question is: recommendation on which way to go...
