Shout out for new Appleton MINI dealer
The Appleton, Wisconsin MINI dealership opened up just recently, to minimal fanfare. Which is really unfortunate, because these guys rock!
They took over the Bergstrom Porsche building, which was almost brand new, and added on to it (Bergstrom still has Porsche, it just moved it a few buildings down). The end result is a beautiful facility--got to take a look in back where they do the mechanical work, and it's stunning (they're proud of the shop, and they should be. All brand new state of the art equipment).
The showroom is very, very nice too, and they've got a ton of MINI knick knacks for sale--shirts, and odds and ends the MINI crowd generally lust after.
Best part is the staff--I worked with Jamison and the tech--whose name I know, but not sure how to spell, so I'll not butcher it--on a coolant leak, which was fixed and at a very reasonable price (I'm out of warranty), and gave me a nice Countryman loaner (To be fair, I've always gotten loaners from International with no problem). It's VERY cool to be able to talk with the tech directly, he was at the desk when I came in. Anyway, both of them (as well as everyone else I came across there) are very enthusiastic, and are really trying to get the name out--they have a genuine interest in the car, and the community, they're not there just to punch the clock. These guys actually listen, which doesn't necessarily happen at all MINI dealerships.
I was initially a little hesitant to go there, as Bergstrom dealerships are generally ok, but not necessarily my favorite, but this feels more like an independent MINI dealership than a branch of Bergstrom.
If you're in the Fox Valley, give these guys a shot--it's so convenient to have a MINI dealership in Appleton, let alone one that is off to such a promising start, I really want to support it and see it do well--I really hope this place takes off; nothing against International, but in all honesty, I like the Appleton dealership better.

Open house is a great idea, hope they do it. That shop is pristine, they've got a good group of people there, they just need to get their name out.
Two thumbs up
I live in the Twin Cities, and our local MINI dealer has nice people, but no flexibility on sale price. I sent out queries to all of the dealers in the adjacent states, and ended up making my order through Brandon at MINI of the Fox Valley.
He has been great to work with on a remote sale. Quick to respond. The contract paperwork met everything he said on the phone. Gave me a good deal on a custom order.
The really amazing thing was when I asked him to change colors on the vehicle under order, and when he went to make the change, it had already gone to production (a week earlier than he had thought). Before he called to tell me, they had already swapped another dealer for another allocation slot, and offered me that with the right color -- no attempt to push me to take the other color. We got that one configured, and it went to production on Friday - only 3 days later than the first one.
I was really impressed with that.
I am anxiously awaiting its delivery, and hope all goes well with trade-in and other paperwork. Based on this experience, I expect it to go smoothly.
Good people to work with! Their MA, Brandon, is a great guy! I am only sad that it is way too far a drive to have them do my service (~300 miles).
