Before....

I was driving an'04 Saturn Quad Coupe. Black 5speed. Most un reliable car I've EVER owned. Not because I was hard on it, just a good all around P.O.S. Electrical problems abound!!!! Left turn signal would intermittantly shut the car off, security would kick in in the Utah winters and not run. The dealer CLAIMS to have repaired these....NOPE!!!! I fixed them and when the Mini came up for a STEAL!!!! Traded in the Saturn and have been in Love all over again, and by again, I mean my wife of 25+ years IS my first, true love.....

I was in L@VE with my '96 Chevy 1500 Shortbed Stepside that I inherited from my MOM, but since I got it with 105,00mi. on it and had accumulated another 70,000mi. it stared to need a bit more $$ than what I was willing to put into it, so off it went...Sad Day!! It's replacement was something I "had" to have...not my MINI, a 2001 Dodge Durango (BLACK), luckily I found one with 84,000mi. on it...again added 41,000mi. to it and it started needing more $$ than I was willing to put into it, plus it was getting 12mpg on our Weekly Commute!!
3yrs. ago today I was able to order Ms Molly, on my 45th Birthday...I couldn't be happier and Love Her more and more every day!!

I had a '96 Miata:

During that time I also had:

My Scion xB

Which was preceded by an '03 Dodge Ram:

A Honda Element SC which I have no pics of, apparently.

And now an '08 Honda Odyssey.

I also had, during that time:

2007 Mazda Miata PRHT:

And an '09 Competition Yellow GT

Which I traded for my JCW.

2000 Suzuki Vitara that took me across the country several times. I heard the dealer found him a good home.

You didn't have the Ka in the U.S. did you? I always thought they were neat looking little cars-not comparable to the MINI of course, but nonetheless, different. Have only seen then in Europe though.

Close but not quite!

I live in Baja, México so I cross the border a lot. And yes, that little bugger used to do lots and lots of double takes hahahaha, but not as many as the MINI of course.

I always considered my Ford Ka as "the poor man's mini" ... They are not that common even in Mexico, actually I think there are more MINIs than Ka's in my city. By the way, it's a Ford import from Brazil.

They're Cool to drive but not so reliable. Only if it hadn't had that much body roll it would almost compare to a MINI on the Go-kart-like handling (notice how the wheels are located on each corner of the car, almost like the Mini).

But as I said before, I'm not missing it a bit!

Cheers!

I just wish I could have done an European Delivery on the Mini. I'll keep the 4Runner for off the road stuff in northern Arizona and southern Utah.
I've owned a ~1970 Ford Capri , 1975 VW Scirocco, 1987 4WS Honda Prelude, AND a 1960 Series I Sunbeam Alpine
Dude, we have a ton in common. Arizona. I also used to have an '06 E90. And I'm a former Scirocco owner. Here's Les Bidrawn shooting it for a european car feature back in '02, that didn't show up in print till '05... mine's the Mk2..

I sold it in '08 after 10 years as its 2nd owner. I do miss her sometimes.

My R53 replaced an '01 VW Jetta TDI with a lot of mods. Sadly it replaced the Jetta due to an unfortunate accident that sent it to car heaven. However I caught the Mini-bug during my first test drive and I've been motoring on since. I've still got my 1973 BMW Bavaria that I bring out every now and again. Also in the summer months my BMW K75S motorcycle rolls out for some fun (The Bavarians sure know how to built a motorcycle).

I kept the 1999 10th Anniversary Miata (Sassy) as my Summer topless car. Also had a 1998 Dodge Neon (2 door, 5 spped Dodge, not Plymouth) 42 MPG while cruising @ 80 with AC on. Not shabby. Before that an '82 Scirocco that I drove til it bled. RIP.

A dead ringer for my first car. A 1975 MGB, which I bought brand new. I still own it, and it's awaiting a full restoration.

Push came to shove, to be honest, MGB would stay, and Mini would go. Hopefully it will never come to that.

There has also been:
1969 MGC Roadster
1968 MGC-GT
1974 Chevelle
1996 Suzuki Sidekick
1996 Saturn
VW Rabbit Cabriolet
Toyota Corolla Wagon
Nissan Quest
Hyundai Excel
