This post was about MINI owners who also (or used to have) BMW's! Not for MINI owners who want to buy BMW's!

Just joking!

There is something about the feel of the small 3er that I feel in my Cooper now. Hard for me to describe! I'm sure you all have experienced it.

If I get the mini I looked at yesterday I will own both. I have a 88 convertible 325 with an auto. I love the car except the auto (my wife wanted something she would drive too). I am using it as a weekend driver and slowly fixing it up as cash allows.

NoE30,

My neighbor bought an E30 convertible similar to yours (88 I think) from Habberstad way back in the '80s. I remember is came home from the dealer lowered, with a body kit (BBS or Zender) and 16" BBS wheels installed. That was the moment when I fell in love. That was sweet!! I remember being shocked that it was an automatic, but after he took us kids for a ride WITH THE TOP DOWN, it was love...

The car was red. It was HOT, HOT, HOT. If you decide to get that MINI, you won't be disappointed! But keep adding to that E30, for sure!

I had a red 1990 325is with black leather sport seats. I put Bilsteins and the M3 springs in. It was probably the best handling car I had owned until I wrote it off an bought my 2002 MCS, which is great 'out of the box.' That said, I still prefer RWD.

I believe I had Bilsteins (great shocks!!!) and either Racing Dynamics or H&R springs. Anyway, the ride height seemed to have dropped 2-1/2" lower than the stock "4x4 like" springs, but the ride was high class. I agree, the handling was awesome. Once I added 17" wheels and a pair of sway bars, I was convinced my little E30 could run at Hockenheim with the best of DTM crowd !!

But yes, my R53 shocked the cr@p out of me with its capabilities bone-stock. I do miss dumping the clutch on the E30 and turning the steering wheel to full-lock for those wonderful and reckless donuts

Fizzyx, what size wheels were you running by the way??

Nice! The small Euro-looking bumpers and the large taillights were some of my favorite design features of the last E30 model years. I've seen a few E30 convertibles with a fiberglass (i think) "winter top".

Yours is nice indeed.

Just the stock BBS 14" basketweaves. The only thing that really annoyed me about the car was that, like the 5.0 Mustangs, it was a RWD car that used 4x100 bolt-pattern wheels. Consequently aftermarket selection sucked and I never succeeded in finding a set of 16's for my budget.

Yes, I would agree that an R50 is just a bit more nimble than a 7 series

Hi everyone,

I also have an e30 325i. My car also have all the works ground control single adjustable track kit, ST adjustable sway front and back, polyurethane engine and transmission bushings, UCC short shifter kit, Mark D chip for the upgraded m50 injectors, ported manifold, knife edge the throttlebody plate, K&N air filter.
My comparison between the two. My 2006 Cooper S Works yes is fast but for everyday use my mini is the way to go especially with the gas prices. Something I cannot describe no matter how fast my mini can be I still prefer rwd. Yes even in the snow.
Maybe I just need time to re-adjust it is only my second day with the mini and I am back driving my e30. Where as the mini makes perfect sense with my work situation, I will dearly miss my e30 as a daily driver and keep it for track duty only. Oh yes I really need some time on this haha only time can tell if this mini can make me smile as much as my e30 can.
For my I am still with my e30 and :| with my new mini.

I had an '84 318i back in 1993. I was 18, and loved that car until I got my 535 later that year. I had been considering a classic as a daily for about a year and a half now. I mean, I drive my '73 Plymouth to work in nice weather, but I didn't bring that car from SoCal to subject it to New England road salt. Plus the 16mpg (if I BABY it)doesn't jive with my commute so well. I had been looking casually at square taillight 2002s, but didn't find the right car in my range. Last week I saw a young guy (late teens, early twenties) driving an e30 down the highway. I realized how good those cars look now that you don't seen them every day. Hmm, now that I have my 4x4 pickup for the snow, maybe I'll keep my ears and eyes open for another e30 so I can roll "classic" (a stretch, I know) year round.
