Career with Mini?

So I'm about to graduate here at the end of Spring. I'm 28, and will have 2 degrees when I finish. (1 in history, the other in Technology Management) So I thought about pursuing a career with the company that made the car I love! Does anybody have any contacts or tips to give a guy a hand? Maybe network a bit... shoot out some resumes... HELP A GRAD OUT!

One way to get started is to find a good MINI dealer and start out selling and work your way into corporate through training and work your way up. I'm a Motoring Advisor and I know the people who trained me from MINI corporate are ex-motoring advisors. This probably isn't as direct a route as you would like but it's one way I know some are getting a foot in the door with corporate.

What do you want to do with MINI? What job are you looking for?

I think what therjparker suggested is a good idea, if you can afford to not make much money while you learn the ropes.

I think MINI in Columbus OH is looking for sales reps. You might give them a call.

If the OP doesnt mind a slight thradjacking, What kind of experience does one need to be a MA? I'm currently in Electronics Sales, and I'm thinking it would be a job I could Really enjoy. Combining MINIs with work, sounds like a winner to me. Now just need a new Dealership to open a bit closer to me. *cough* Fort Smith/Fayetteville/Rogers area.

It all depends on the dealership. Some places will hire you with no car sales experience, some will treat MINI as a high line brand and expect you to have some car sales experience. Other stores will have an internal route for training such as being a product specialist/delivery consultant or a shop assistant.

Worst case scenario, you would just have to start somewhere lower on the food chain like a honda or kia dealership (where you can actually make a lot of money) and apply to a MINI store when your resume is a little more complete. Selling cars and selling MINIs specifically isn't very difficult. It's more of a state of mind than anything else. PM me if you want with any questions.
