Looking at a mini, need help with values!
Lorals,
Glad to here you made the right move! once you get a hang of manual you will never want to go back to an automatic
I however do want to point one thing out and someone can correct me if im wrong but Hill Assist only became standard on minis beginning with the 07 models.
I had an 06 MCs manual and it did not have Hill Assist. Just wanted to bring that to your attention.
The absolute best thing you can do is to find a friend or a driving school that has manual cars, make sure when you are learning that its a flat surface otherwise it can get discouraging. Once you get good on a flat surface make sure you take it to a area of town or a development with hills to learn on because in traffic you can start panicking and can reek havoc on the transmission.
Here is a trick my friend taught me when i learned how to drive manual. Come to a complete stop on the hill and put your foot on the brake. SLOWLY let out the clutch while watching your RPM's until it dips slightly and levels out. You then can let your foot of the brake and give it some Gas and you will take off w/o rolling back. Works like a charm!
But please make sure you do not sit there while balancing clutch to not roll back, place it in neutral while at a stop light and then use the little trick when it turns green And of course there is always the E-brake to help you out. It all sounds complicated but its not and you will enjoy it! besides I personally feel it a skill that everyone should learn because you can never know what kind of situation you will be in someday.
Good Luck! and Happy Holidays!

Lorals,
I still do not think you understand what I was saying. Premiere sells many brands of cars. They would have no idea that the CVT's are flawed. The car probably runs great now. However, the MINI CVT transmission is flawed by design. It can break down at any time.
