Glas Gard windshield protection

http://www.thegsmstore.net/bg-glasgard1.htm

Given the MINI's almost flat facing windshield and more prone to rock chips, anyone use this product or know if it works?

It's out of stock for now per the website, but sells for $19.95 plus S&H.

I had not heard of that product before. It is described as "a water repellant coating" intended to compete with "Rainex" (RainX?). I didn't find any claims anywhere else about it preventing rock chips, but I don't think RainX makes such a claim. Glasgard came out in late 2001, and was trademarked until that was cancelled on 8/07/10 ("Section 8").

I've also never heard of Global Source Marketing, but they try to sell some fairly unusual products; e.g., the Photoblocker that supposedly keeps you from getting a speeding ticket. West Coast Windshield Repair Inc. in Downey, CA may be the current owner.

See the photos of the BB pellet hitting the windshield?

From the ad:

Lab tests indicate that windscreens protected with GlasGard see a reduction in damage from flying road debris. Rock chips reduce the strength of your windshield by 90%. Those small rock chips not only ruin the look of your windshield, but they can blossom into full windshield replacement.

That Photoblocker has been "Mythbusted" in the show, it does NOT work at all.....busted....

I purchased Glasgard over 4 years ago after receiving my first repairable windshield ding. Figured what the heck might as well give it a try. Since then I have encountered numerous wincing direct hits from rocks that were visible prior to impact and still no dings-yet. Believe what you may. Whether or not it was luck, I will continue to use this product.

PS--We have discovered the best way to order Glasgard is to call them directly at 480-389-1415 and place your order. For some unknown reason the website always says out of stock.

Thanks!! Nothing like a happy customer!! Even if you were just lucky, it beats having to cringe every time with the sounds of rocks blasting and pitting away the windshield and knowing it's still all good.

Going to order a few bottles of the stuff.

It sounds like an interesting product, how hard is it to apply?

They send you a bottle of glass cleaner and the Glasgard in a pump spray bottle. Simply clean the windshield and then spray the Glasgard on-wait 5 minutes to dry and wipe off. I always wait a bit longer before wiping it off. Very simple application.
