Lets just consider for a minute that it could be an error on the drivers part. It is not inconceivable that a young or old driver could simply forget or not know that the high beams were on. I have to agree if you are going to go through the trouble of tossing a wrench is insane! Why not a grenade or maybe a James Bondish oil slick?? Yeah seems more silly now.

Most every bad behavior I see on the road is attributable to lack of attention. only a minor component is due to ***-hattery.

Avoid disaster be alert and get out of harms way. Please remember there is always someone with a bigger wrench

If they're on my @ss and I'm driving the R53 I'll just fall in behind them and hit the highs and driving lights. If I'm driving the 928 I'll hit the kickdown button and we'll quickly part ways in tire smoke.

I sugest that you do nothing.

If on the interstate just slow down and let them pass.

If on a rural road don't do anything. (Just adjust your mirrors and speed up)

If a safe place to turn in with people around you can turn in and let them by.

DO NOT GIVE THEM THE FINGER!!!

You don't need a road rage nut following you home to beat you up or worse. I'm sure if you are like me you have a gun with you but like me you really do not want to shoot anyone.

Just be aware and stay as safe as possible.

it's sad really.

if they are dumb, lacks attention, or plain don't give a crap about driving, they shouldn't be allowed to drive because these people are the ones who cause accidents.

unfortunately, every moron w/ a license is allowed to drive legally.

That way there is almost no blind spots. The only time you see a car in the side view mirror is when it is a couple of car lengths back and just about to overtake you. When there is nothing shown in the side view mirrors, no one is close enough to be a danger when changing lanes etc. If you are paying attention to the rear view mirror then there are no surprises.
If bright headlights are behind you then flip up the rear view mirror.
I agree. Too many people have all 3 mirrors aimed at the same spot, directly behind. Wrong.

Or I drive off and leave them.
You win the prize! That is the correct answer.

If releasing the bag containing rocks, pieces of brick, and roofing nails fails to slow the offender, we move to DefCon 2 and start tossing grenades from the sunroof.

DefCon 1 gets really ugly. You don't want to think of it.

But seriously, I have actually pulled off the road on occasion to allow the guy to pass. Some folks -- like my late mother-in-law -- simply can't see at night and drive EVERYWHERE with high beams on all the time. She argued that it was what high beams were intended for.

That definatley works for us. But for safety reasons, just not sure I would instruct younger drivers to pull over. Could be dangerous.......And as rare as this happens, re-directing the side views and just keep marching seems like a good option too.

Sorta curious what instructors of todays drivers ed courses are teaching our kids on this.

That's a valid question. They sure aren't teaching them to drive.

Sad but very true......Just the other day I was behind a car load of student drivers with instructor in FP seat.

SD was travelling 5-8 mph over speed limit from my turn to next stop sign in a 30 zone.
SD crossed the stop line in the street before coming to a "pause", making a California stop rolling through fairly busy intersection.....Any wonder they have issues ?

I basically motor around here like I was on a Harley again. Only way to stay safe.

I must not be like you 'cus I'll shoot someone in a heartbeat if my life or my family's life depends on it. Plus in my line of work, you can't be afraid to shoot.

I tend to adjust my mirrors, when people see their highbeams in them they tend to dim their lights in a hurry, on many a rural road people just forget.

And adjusting the mirrors gets it out of my eyes, regardless of whether or not they mind it. One thing to note though is many people aren't using their highbeams but just have a higher sitting vehicle with poorly adjusted/aimed headlights and that mis-aim is sometimes made worse by their tailgaiting
