go for the MCS it really is an amazing vehicle i drove my friends justa (and it was an auto) and i felt like i was driving my jeep lol exciting enough for a first car but not if your looking for "the thrill of the drive" you get from the MCS

and ive driven a GTI (07) and it wasn't really much of an exciting experience, it was pretty fast but not as fun

ps. get the S

almost done

the deal is currently at 26.4
one more email back and i'll probably settle.

price went from 29K(28300+700 destination charge) - > 26k. + 400$ to change from bonnet stripes to sport stripes. i'm negotiating the stripes down now. i wonder if they will try to tack on the destination charge at the end.

we'll see.

I went with the Base because it was a solid price at $6k less than MINI dealer was selling an identical one with higher miles and less options. Compared it with sale prices across the region and decided it was a steal. If I were buying new and could afford id, I'd probably have gone with the S.

Sure I'll have a blast for a few years with the Justa, and if I take good care of it I should be able to come out on top when I sell it and buy an S

LaurelEdition...you're so right about the salesman not losing any sleep after the deal is made. That's why I'm never in there to make a friend while buying a car. Just cordial enough to get what I want. It's one of the few relationships in life where it's all about being selfish.

iloveminis...congratulations on your new ride. i'm desperately going from dealer to dealer (southern california) to see if they've got anything on the lot that i can "steal" from them before the 2011's come out and especially before the August incentives expire.

Wow, congratulations on getting the Mini you wanted. I wish I would have gotten the S but needed to keep my cost low for the next couple of years.

I would say that Bob Smith BMW was a great experience for SoCal people. they are very professional and there service is great, since I also service our 328i there. Very low pressure sales and great follow up
Enjoy your new Mini)

thanks for the congrats!!

I love driving the car. I'm almost at 2K miles now, barely had it for a month. So far no problems. Getting about 30.8mpg. Love taking it in the corners. I'm pushing the limits everyday!

Did you break it in slowly? Did you notice if it got more powerful after
1500 k?
Thx

Nice Work! Sounds like you got the car you want and you won't be disappointed. I never had to go through the dealer process, built it online, sent it to the dealer and sent them a check for $500 and the next time I heard from was to set up my pick up time.

Another satisfied customer! It was fun reading about your adventure.
Glad you went with the S, you won't regret it a bit. Um, do you have any pic's? Good luck.

pics

I'm not sure if it felt any more powerful after 1.5K miles. Is it suppose to? I drive gently but will occasionally give it a bit of acceleration.

I've attached some of the pics.

I kinda wonder myself how much excessive inventory Mini has right now. About August/September, the manufacturer will sometimes rebate the dealer for each car sold to clear the lot for next year's allocation. For example, I heard it from a fairy that Mercedes is rebating their dealers $10k for each E class sold. That means the sales manager has $10k of haggling room with the customers. Of course, the consumer isn't privy to such info.

Most incentives to the dealer can be found on edmunds but I've seen no mention of the manufacturer incentive that has been talked about for MINIs. Is it shown online anywhere?

canyonlands...check out the www.miniusa.com site and it's there on the homepage. there's a lease offer and a finance offer you can look at. it's just for this month, though.

Thanks, but I'm speaking of a break for the dealers on cars sold, to the tune of about $1,800 that I've seen mentioned on the forum here. Is that known to be a fact? Such things are listed at edmunds under incentives and termed as "marketing support". No such incentive is listed for MINI, but again, I've seen mention of it here.

Haven't seen anything either, but just FYI, I managed to get a $29750 down to only $27700. That included the package discount, and I was armed with invoice pricing and everything right down to the T. Course, invoice was only $26900. But do your homework and except to get within $1000 of invoice, I've never seen them go lower

Course, it turned from a "guaranteed dealer trade, yeah we do this all the time, you'll have your car in 3-4 days!" to a "oh, sorry, it fell through...but here's a car that MSRP is within $300 of our negotiated price, here you can have this one and look we don't even have to negotiate!" It's why I'm ordering a 2011 from a totally different area dealer. Fudgers....

Not cool Wahoo_Shoe. We shall see if my deal heads in the same direction. It sounds similar but it's a bit different. I'm closer to dealer cost on an MCS that's just entered the country and have a deposit on it.

Hopefully it goes smoothly, crossing my fingers for you! Weird to see any coming in, but I guess a manual Clubby is difficult to find, hence why my old MA hasn't said anything further
