It is a long story, but the short version is that there is a super clean and nice 07 MCS at a dealership here in town. However, they are advertising it as a MINI Cooper Works. The only thing related to a John Cooper Works in the pics is a metal sticker on the left side of the hatchback. It might be an 07 with the JCW dealer installed engine upgrade, but there is no pic shown of the engine bay. There own specs show that the car has 172 hp so that is the stock MCS engine. It is pretty obvious to me that they don't know what they have because none of the info matches up. And I know it can't be a factory JCW because those weren't made in 2007. Since they think it is a Works, they are asking almost $25,000 for it which seems a but rediculous to me. Any way, I was hoping that someone would be willing to run the VIN for me so I can get some more information about this car.

I would greatly appreciate it as I know it would be making someone go out of there way to help a stranger. The VIN they have listed is

I am hoping with the build sheet and any other info the VIN brings up will be enough to get them to come down to a reasonable price. But right now they are convinced that they have one of the rarest MINIs around judging by the emails we have been exchanging.

RealOEM.com sez it's a Cooper S. Whether or not it has the Works kit dealer installed is up in the air. Ask them for a pic of the kit sticker on the valve cover.
