Taking Delivery THIS WEEK; Must-Do MODS, PREP, ETC?

My new Clubman S will be arriving this week.

From reading this forum it seems like there are a few must do mods, including:
  • Catch can (lots of blow back seems the norm)
  • Hood scoop (seems the OEMs melt and don't really route air, true?)
  • Turbo heat shield
..anything else?

I've already ordered my Valentine One "hard wire kit" and a "Sport Mode" Controller.

Also, what else should I do straight away?
  • A proper waxing?
  • A proper oil change (I'm a Royal Purple user)
Any help is appreciated!!!!

I honestly don't know what any of those things are that you mentioned. I plan on putting a clear bra on immediately. Just want to say congrats!

couple off the head things.

clay then wax...they get a lot of rail dust and crap stuck on... i finally did mine after 1 1/2 years and wow.

No-holes license plate bracket, if your state sucks. make sure the dealer doesnt rape the front bumper with screws

make sure you get floor mats... the dealer should throw them in on a new car...sometimes you just gotta ***** to them

and OEM scoop is fine. the 2nd gens dont really depend on them whatsoever. you could take out the honeycomb insert for more flow, but with that comes bugs and dirt

One of the best mods, as any will tell you is a Whalen shift **** for the 6sp folks

Thanks, man.

My state sucks. Is there a recommended bracket to use?

Wait on mechanical mods for 90 days -- You are going to learn what is best for you needs and will not waste your money.

I like this license plate bracket:

Craven also makes a good one, as do several others -- just search for "no holes license plate brackets"

Learn to drive at speeds on the track with High Performance Driver's Education (HPDE) School. Then you will know what you want and need based on your driving style.

It's a boy!

Just got him Saturday, if you can believe it!

So, what's the consensus on STDs for the Clubman? Snake oil or life saver?

In my opinion, it is not that important even though there has been a few cases of mushrooming on NAM.

pardon my noobiness, but can someone elaborate on this process? thanks!
I'm asking because we are planning on putting a clear bra on, so now I'm thinking about this clay and wax thing, but I would have to do the clay and wax thing first right?? I'm assuming I have to go to a body shop to have that done.

The clay process involves clay (literally) that you go over the car with. You have to use a lubricant like Prima's Glide. The clay helps to remove contaminants that have become stuck on the surface. Search in the Detailing 101 forum for threads on how tos and tips.

I'm not sure on whether you should put wax down before the clear bra is put on or not. Don't have one, so no experience.
