I was going to type up this huge paragraph talking about why MINI will never be offered in RWD but I just scraped and am just going to say hey if it happens it happens but I am not getting my hopes up.

I doubt that MINIs will ever be RWD, but I do not doubt the AWD option. What is an interesting thought though, is that either an enterprising company, or just an individual willing to put in a good amount of work could wind up creating a RWD MINI on their own. like the article mentioned, the transmission tunnel would be there so it might not be as daunting of a task as it is today.

MINIs have been FWD ever since they went on sale in 1959. I highly doubt they would go RWD, but I could see the possibility of going AWD.

The article talks about the new BMW being front-wheel drive, based on the next gen Mini platform......but it doesn't really say much about the possibility of Mini becoming rear-wheel drive. Besides BMW exec's know they need a fwd car and they have it with the Mini. I doubt they would commit automotive suicide and go with a rwd Mini. I just hope with next gen Mini in 2014, that BMW doesn't decide to "modernize" the appearance of the car.

Look at Harley Davidson, people kept saying they needed a liquid cooled motor, so they spent a fortune and came out with the VRod, which has been a failure, when you look at the sales figures.

The mini coupe and roadster should be RWD. Ontop of that the base engine should atleast be the S model engine, not the 120hp one.

I don't believe the V-Rod's problem is the engine, it's the whole package. They took a good engine and made a bad motorcycle. They just need to keep building obsolete bikes until their aging customers are all dead.
