Transporting a MINI across the country

Anyone ever use a transporting/shipping company for their car? I may need to get mine from NYC to LA in the future and was wondering if anyone had some first hand suggestions for a reasonable and reliable company? THANKS!

I have spent a lot of time online but there seems to be so many options and all of the companies say that what the other companies offer is bad, lol.

If you really want to baby it, Intercity Lines is preferred by the exotic car crowd.

Otherwise, just drive it. You'll be there on the fourth day!

I used Matson but I would not recommend them. They have a tendency to do bad things to cars. U-haul if you don't want to put the miles on it.

When I bought my MINI last September from the dealer in Denver he had their retained transport company handle the trip to Salt Lake. You might want to ask your local MINI dealer (or any other car dealer) who they use. As to how good the people were that my MA supplied he said "they are very good because we don't want to be fixing a lot damaged in transit cars". My car arrived on time and in perfect condition, plus their price was $100 less than any one I pulled up off the internet.

I'd agree with others here and say drive it the money you'll spend on shipping it will cover the cost of driving. plus you'll have much more fun. I've made 4 trips cross country. none in the mini YET

Co workers have used these folks to ship motorcycles. They ship everything and are used for Corporate employee moves also.

Used DAS to ship a few years ago from Indiana to AZ. Great company. Top shelf, enclosed truck, GPS tracking. Very satisfied.

Yeah, I want to drive it but I will have to do it with a 2 year old so that changes things DRASTICALLY!!!! 3000 plus miles with a toddler isn't exactly a good time.

I looked at DAS online. Seemed to be one of the more "reliable looking" just from appearances anyway. Good to get feedback on them! Thanks!

Thanks for the offer, I will keep you in mind. I'm just planning ahead for now so it may be a few months or more before I have to do it.

I have had really good experience with FedEx. They have a custom critical transport for cars and I have dealt with several drivers this year and they took really good care of the cars.
