Oh yah, the biggest change I hope I don't regret is going from a Justa manual to a S auto! As my husband said, I won't miss, mis-shifting!
It is awfully fun to shift and tool around in the car, but I get tired and then my shifting becomes sub-par, not fair to the car. And I really hate how close R and 1st are on the gears, over and up and MORE over and up...booo to that! I've def found my self in R instead of 1st on more than one occasion. Can't wait to play with the paddle shifters!

I bought mine used and the only thing I wish I did when buying was look for one with LSD. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about. I've had to fix a few things on my own since buying the car, but it had 80k miles so some things like replacing gasket and whatnot were due so that's normal to me.

I regret not getting heated seats since I'm in Canada. Our JCW doesn't seem to heat up the cabin as quickly as our other cars so it would have been nice to have the seat heaters.

I regret not buying the first MINI that I test drove. It was a 2007 JCW convertible, the only reason I didn't buy it was because it's carfax showed that a dealer in Fla. replaced the engine at 30,000 miles and I wanted to test drive an MCSc to compare the ride/perf. difference. I went back a few days later and it was sold.

I regret not being able to buy another one. Living in the northwest, having a convertible is not very practical for a daily driver- but I would love to have a MINI convertible. I used to own a Miata, and I miss top down driving. (I hated driving a Miata with the top up though, too dark and confining). Thats what sets the MINI convertible apart from the others, the ability to partially open the roof it you want to let some light in and its not raining. Unfortunately the Roadster doesnt have this option.

Wish I had ordered the car to have the below options, would of saved me alot.
Factory JCW car
Rear fog
Home link

I got lucky and the dealer found me a car that was 95% what I wanted so I jumped on it.

I regret not getting the H-K stereo and maybe not getting the 17-inch wheels. Otherwise, I don't regret anything. I love it!

Am I going to regret not getting the chrome line interior? My Cooper S (whom I've named 'Mowgli') is on a ship right now headed this way with black lounge leather, piano black dash, and carbon black sills and door. I can't wait to get it but wonder if this will be my one regret. Any thoughts?

I dont think you will Matt. I wondered if I would regret it. The satin silver that is standard looks great...and the chrome adds a little "sparkle" but, at least in the loaner I had, looked kinda cheap. If you do think you need it, you can order OEM chrome or a number of aftermarket producers. I think outmotoring.com or minimania.com has stainless steel interior trim that might be worth a look.

I have a very similar interior to what you ordered, and have chrome line. I've driven a few loaners without it, and frankly while I like it, I don't think you'll miss it much, if at all. Lots of pics of at the link in my signature, if you want to see what chrome line does for you... good luck!

I regret not ordering one sooner. My wife has had one for a year and mine is due tomorrow for pick up at 10 am. Yes, I am counting the minutes

I have to disagree with those that say "you won't miss it", I fought with the Dealer to get the Chrome Speaker Rings, in my Booklet of ordering options it was listed as belonging to the HiFi Stereo...so I got those "gratis"!! I was a Happy Camper back then...still am...it really gives the interior a "glitzy" shine.

I wanted a cohesive interior wtih Black, Grey and Chrome...you can't go wrong there!!

I regret not getting the "S" for my current car and HK option. I purchased the CMS ALL4 yesterday and will replace my current car in a couple of months when it arrives. I still didn't get the upgrade audio though cause the standard one is a lot better the my current car.

Only 1 regret

I just got my mini last weekend. I didn't special order because the one in the showroom had everything I want except that it wasn't an S. The jury is still out on the regret part. What I did get instead was a very classy looking Mini and I feel like a million buck driving it. The deal breakers for me, Lounge leather, 17" wheels with infinite spoke and the harmon Kardon stearo and the moon roof. I thought the little beast had plenty of pep and the tires and seats really improved the feel of the ride. So I think I regret not getting the S because I think I might regret it down the road. I don't really regret it right now because the little guy is awesome. I was already heading out the door with a 33k price tag (tax and service agreement inc) so I had to stop. I have the retro color of Ice Blue and the contrast with the toffee makes me sigh everytime i look at it. So if I had to do an either or, I personally would make the same choice.

I think one thing I regret is shaving part of the top mount to make it easier to adjust camber on my BC coilover's camber plate.

Having gone from an S to a regular Cooper I would say that I have no regrets whatsoever, considering the money I've saved, and the fact that I've become much more laid back behind the wheel the past few years. In more aggressive days past I would have missed the turbo, but the regular Cooper has more than enough pep for my needs. If I had my mindset today, and a choice to do it all over again back in 2008 (when I bought the S) I probably would have gone your route and bought leather and other features like Nav and worked that into my budget instead of the turbo.

All in all you get my thumbs up

No regrets here with D2. HOWEVER. It would have been nice to opt for the auto sensing rain wipers and auto headlamps. I know it's only a $250.00 option but I already added options that put me over the original budget. Over all though, extremely happy.
