Use of soft rack for surfboard on Mini
Use of soft rack for surfboard on Mini
Hello All!
I wanted to see if anyone has used a soft rack to put 2 surfboards on their mini. I have a '06 coupe and I use to have roof racks (which I only used for bikes) but those were stolen a couple months ago
. (They were thule racks I had placed on there myself, but they were locked, so the creep who stole them left a couple dents in my roof from when he crow-barred them off)
Anyways, I need to move some boards this weekend and was hoping to use a soft rack, but I'm afraid they won't fit on the roof with the antenna. Or even worse I get the boards on there and then they mess up the antenna while I'm driving. I appreciate any advice.
Thanks!

if you unscrew the antenna, will the boards on the soft rack clear the antenna base?
i transport a paddleboard on my roof using the factory racks, i removed the antenna and replaced it with a stainless steel acorn nut.

I'm not sure if it will clear but it probably will. If it doesn't, you could easily make it work by rapping a towel around the soft rack so it gets more clearance. I will be buying a soft rack soon and I will report back to here on clearance and how it works et cetera.
