Well --- for us old time Mini owners, we can remember when the only factory shops were on the other side of the Atlantic (after all of the BMC guys went belly-up). And international phone calls cost something like $3.00 a minute, and there were no international cerdit cards so you had to get money orders and mail'em and hope the guys on the other end were honest. I developed friendships with TWA intercontinental pilots who would make "parts runs" out of Heathrow. Try waiting for a spring loaded primary needle for your SU for a couple of months -- and then getting the wrong one.

And it was uphill to the mailbox. And it was snowing, and I had no shoes. Couldn't afford'em because I had a little British car.
