go to City Rent-a-Car: http://www.cityrentacar.com/ -- I rented a JustACooper from them this spring to drive between SFO and Cambria for a long-weekend vacation: very reasonable, and great service.
(PS: the PCH ROCKS in a MINI.)

Thanks, I've seen the site, but they don't list the the turbo car as available. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

yeah, they had several '08 R56 MCa MINIs, and a Clubman or two -- but no MCS MINIs ... which was STILL way better than a Kia when you're out on Hwy1!

I agree 100% on Hwy 1, but I'm not looking to drive it, I just need to take some readings.

I think you'll have a hard time finding an R56 S to rent. Several companies rent R50 and R56 Coopers (automatic only, convertibles also available): Zipcar, City Carshare, and City Rent-a-car mentioned earlier (which apparently has a convertible R52 S).
