If you've had a claim, do you like your insurance co.?
I have been with State Farm since I am 16 years old, never a problem even when moving to and from different states.
last january I hit a crater in the Mini going to work at 3 AM, did almost 4 K in damage, 20 Minutes after I came home on a flat bed with the Mini the wife was going to work in a snow storm, in the Hemi Charger and was side swiped with about 3 K in damage, When I called State farm as this was my first claim besides windshields in over 20 years, they were very helpful, they sent adjusters to the Mini dealer at least 3 or 4 times over the course of the 2 weeks the car was at the location, everything was paid for but the deductable, same with the Charger and they even had deals set up with the rental car companies it was all very hassel free. I would not even think of switching companies even if I could get a better rate, (which I have not)
Very Happy with there service.

I am male but 42 years old and perfect driving record. Completely understand NJ is expensive but to more then double the policy is outrageous. I have found another company (Palisades) offering $2500 a year. Still crazy expensive but over a thousand cheaper then a company I have been loyal to for 10 years. Total disgrace,.

But since the State has put insurers in this position, you're not likely to do much better by shopping around. Your alternative ? Move.
Well, I just put a claim in to my insurance yesterday. I was driving down the highway and a car in front of me hit a cone then the cone flew back and hit my car on the front bumper on the passenger side.
Here's a picture of the damage.

The liner on the inside of the wheel well is ripped too so who knows how bad this is going to be.
My claims adjuster doesn't know yet if it will be determined to be a 'collision' claim or a 'comprehensive' claim.
Any insurance experts out there have any idea? My comprehensive deductible is $100 and my collision is $500 (plus it effects my rates).
PS sorry for the hijack.

I'm no expert, but I would assume it should fall under the category of comprehensive. Getting hit by a rock that the car in front of you kicks up falls under comprehensive, I don't see how a cone should be any different.
If you hit a stationary cone--Collision Claim.
No way they would consider that a Collision claim if the vehicle ahead of you hit it and threw it back into you.
BTW... if they handle it as a Collision claim, that is an at-fault accident for you. I would be so pissed, I'd seriously consider switching companies.
I just found out (when I got the papers from my new insurance company) that 21st put an at-fault "accident" on my record because I called them for roadside assistance after a car forced me onto the shoulder where I hit a rock and broke a wheel. So now there's now a >50% at-fault accident on my record even though I didn't file a claim. Nice.

Wow.. harsh.
Now, your State may have a "no phantom vehicle" rule. Meaning, if there is no evidence a car contacted you or a witness to attest to the other vehicle forcing you off the road, then they handle it as a single-car loss. Single car loss = at fault.
Still... if they value their customers at all, they would not code a claim as at-fault when they only paid out for a tow. That's horrible customer service.
They didn't even pay for the tow! Their roadside assistance consisted of routing me thru multiple phone trees and eventually getting the tow truck to my vehicle. I had to call the tow company myself to make sure they were sending a flatbed, which 21st hadn't specified. That day is what prompted my search for a new company.
That's what I'm worried about.
Called my 'adjuster' this morning. She hadn't had a look at the report and will get back to me in a couple hours.
Meanwhile, I looked at my policy and it defines Collision.
It looks like it could go either way... I wonder what other's definition looks like.
While it is impact with another vehicle or object, it's also a falling object. But then again, hail would be considered an object also.
Thoughts?

"Collision" means the upset of "your covered auto" or its impact with another vehicle or object. Loss caused by the following is consiidered other than "collision":
1. Missiles of falling objects;
2. Fire;
3. Theft or larceny;
4. Explosion or earthquake;
5. Windstorm;
6. Hail, water or flood;
7. Malicious mischief of vanalism;
8. Riot or civil commotion;
9. Contact with bird or animal; or
10. Breakage of glass.
If breakage of glass is caused by a "collision" you may elect to have it cosidered a loss caused by "collision".

No clue, I've been with State Farm since I turned 16 and my parents have been with State Farm for over 20 years. Now granted, we do love our agent and he was a friend of my parents through church before he became our agent, but even with a different agent we were well taken care of. I side-swiped our Suburban on the pillar between the two garages of my house and State Farm filed it as a collision claim. All I know is that my premiums have not gone up considerably. I'm only paying $85/month to insure my Mini. I'm pretty sure that my disastrous driving amuses my insurance agent because I only have issues with our garage, not when I'm out on the streets.

Appears your company's policy looks a LOT like ours in regards to Collision vs Comp definition.
If the car in front of you hits a pylon and that pylon hits you, it is considered a "missile", just like a rock or flying ice that hits your car. So, if your company believes your version, it's a comp claim. Simple.
