Monster MINI Mailbox

Introducing my early birthday gift...

Hubby has been making these for all his Shelby GT500 forum friends for a few years now. I've been bugging him to make me a MINI one and mount it on my 3.5' high Detroit Diesel 671 crankshaft pole. (Yes, I wanted that also. It's out of a farm tractor. Hubby thought I was crazy until we installed it then he knew why I wanted it. IT'S BAD LOOKING!!! ) He won't display the Shelby one he made for himself because he's afraid someone will steal it. Understandable. So mines been armed with an anti-theft device powered by my right hand. : It's... I KEEL YOU! NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

This is also the bigger sized mailbox, because I get many packages and it makes it easier for the mailman and myself. The Shelby boxes are all regular size boxes. I have the MONSTER MINI MAILBOX!

The backside...

This is the link that Bill (Hubby) put on his StangMafia forum to introduce my Mini mailbox... (they love my MINI over there)
http://www.stangmafia.com/forum/f47/...-mailbox-3811/

Oh, I guess I'll be changing up stripes sometime soon. I've been talking about it for how long now? The Hubby may start taking the MINI to VIR (Virginia International Raceway) so I guess this is his hint for the future looks of my car. I did add a white hibiscus flower sticker to each side of the box, but you can't see it in the pics due to the real flowers blocking it. Yes, I'm the crazy MINI owner who has the red hibiscus flowers on the white mirror caps and the white hibiscus flowers around the sunroof. I LIKE IT!!!
------------------------------------

Here's the Shelby boxes...

This is one the Hubby pulled a favor from one of Carol Shelby's employees and had it signed and delivered...

Pretty cool to use during car shows also. This one is really sturdy and the talk of the shows...

The crankshaft mount is a nice touch.

That is so cool. I'd hate to ask how much he wants for the mailbox cause I know those shelby cobra emblems are pricey...lol.

Very cool.

I like the way you quetly hid the "sales pitch" in with the birthday gift.
i think that if you are going to advertise you should pay like the other vendors. it's not fair to them.

With 900+ posts and her husband making these for a few years now, I doubt she's trying to sell anything.

I may be wrong but I didn't take it that way...

I'm going to put this nicely, but you surely raised my blood pressure.

They are NOT for sale. My birthday is June 5 and it is a gift I've been trying to get out of the Hubby for two years now. Want to try again? I was honestly just sharing with all the other Mini lovers here.

Geez, I haven't got this crap from any of the other forums I've put this on. My husband offered them at just a bit over the cost to his friends on his forum. I'm not offering anything. We own a business that has nothing to do with these and we don't have time to do this type thing on the side. Like I said, try again my friend.

Now can I enjoy sharing this with everyone who's posting for the right reasons and lets all stop entertaining the bad guy. He has his info wrong and I've corrected that. Time to start enjoying again.

The Shelby emblems are only $40 per snake. The Cooper S emblems were $56 each side, and I believe the MINI emblem was just over $40. I also wanted the MINI box bigger than he was making the Shelby boxes. It's truly the Monster MINI mailbox and it did cost more to make than the Shelby one. Go figure.

The crankshaft has actually been installed for a few years. My Hubby thought I'd lost it when I tried to explain to him that I wanted a tractor crank shaft for a mailbox post. Most of the neighbors don't have a clue what it is. All my Hubby's friends get a kick out of it when they visit. Then when he fusses up and tells them it was my idea they really lose it.

Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm thinking at our house, one side would have to be a MINI and the other side a Jeep.

Oh and Happy Birthday!

eBay, baby!

But really...I needed a new emblem last year and I bought a whole new set off of eBay.co.uk for way cheaper than dealer cost. The dealer wants like $30/wing and like $40 for the Cooper/S lettering...I got each for like $4/apiece + shipping.

Of course! Try eBay for just the MINI logo if you don't need brand new. I've been playing with some other things also, but surely question sharing them after getting racked over the coals over these pics.

Maybe, but we currently own our own business and with times being what they are they Hubby was offered a position doing what we do in our business with a big company right has the recession took over. We've kept our business to one day a week which has worked out very well.

We also had connections within the Shelby clan that kept Mr. Carol Shelby from putting his foot down about us using his name on the Shelby mailboxes. I hear that MINI has came after a few other neat ideas after using the Mini/MINI name. They want their piece of the pie to put it simple. When the Shelby GT500 first hit the hands of owners we had a few forum members who had taken pics of their car and produced THEMSELVES t-shirts with it. They were contacted by Shelby's lawyers and threatened. Yes seriously. I feel that if I pay for the car I'll take a pic of my car and post it on whatever I want, but you legally can't do that. Go figure. That's a entirely different thread on it's own. Other's that are more legally minded here I'm sure will chime in on this one.

Now that would've been an excellent idea with our MINI/Shelby. They are both the same color/stripe combo to boot. The Hubby just didn't want to advertise their was a Shelby around. He also was thinking some kids would try to peel the snake emblem off the side for fun. After paying full price for my emblems I'd be peeling some kids butt off their backside.

Now that's a deal in a half, espeically if they are geniue parts.

I did pickup a MINI emblem off eBay when the Hubby started playing with the idea of making up another batch of mailboxes for his friends. It was in excellent condition, but I'm going to use that for another project. I might post pics if I'm not eaten alive by THE TOOL.

I couldn't find the Cooper S emblems any where other than the dealer. My local dealer seems to be outrageously prices at $56 a piece. Hey, it was just my box and not an entire lot of orders so I just paid the price so I could get my box installed.

You can get the badges brand new if you use eBay.co.uk instead of the US eBay. It will take them a few extra days to arrive, but they are MUCH cheaper, even after shipping. Currently there are badges on UK eBay for about $4/each US + $4-8 shipping.
