Automatic with Trailer

I have an '07 MCSa and a 800lb load (350 trailer, 400 motorcycle, 50 gear). I have done some smaller trips with my trailer, but I am about to embark on a summer vacation through the mountains.

I have searched through the forum and have not seen any specific FAQ for pulling a trailer with an MCSa. Anything that I should keep in mind?

Should I keep it in "manual" mode and try to use the paddle shifters to keep the rpm's at a certain level? Any slipping of the transmission with an automatic?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Especially any of the teardrop guys that are pulling with an automatic.

It just works. I've hauled several things, including a similar weight load to MOTD last year. I shift however I'd normally shift - auto sometimes, manual others. No need to play with RPMS - just drive. The MINI is a surprisingly capable tow vehicle for loads of 1000lbs or less. I honestly don't even notice it's back there, even when maneuvering at high speed...

Blimey,

Thanks for the information; hopefully I have as good an experience as you have had.
