Just ran down to North County San Diego from San Luis Obispo on Friday and drove back today. Drove HW101 to I405 to I5 to HWY78.

I counted 48 Mini's on the way down and 56 on the way home for a total of 104! I only counted Mini's seen on the freeway. On the section of I405 between HWY101 and I5 I counted 32 Mini's while driving south on Friday and exactly 32 more today driving north. Lots of Mini's within 30 minutes of LAX! I would have seen more, but I couldn't see the other side of the freeway though much of Orange County due to higher median walls, and it was dark during my last hour from Santa Barbara to SLO.

Among the 104 Mini's seen, I saw only 4 clubmans, 3 convertibles, and 2 classic Mini's. Lots of red ones!

 

That's a bunch!! SO...How many *waved*??

Not much waving on the freeway... other Mini drivers were smart enough to be looking straight ahead... I spent 4 hours each way watching oncoming traffic across the median while trying to glance in front of me just enough to prevent rear ending someone... had a couple close calls. I don't think I'll count Mini's next trip.

Couple other cars I noticed... 1 MGA, 1 MGB, 0 MG Midgets, 2 TR3's, 1 Fiat Spyder, 1 Alpha Romeo Spyder... Thousands of Toyota Prius's.

bought my mini 3 months ago...finally got a wave after a slight italian job lane-change-follow on the 405 this past weekend.

i dont think your normal daily driver person who got the mini for gas mileage will ever wave.....only the people who truly love their cars and the history will.
