I tend to go to the same places over and over and, since I've been driving MINIs for awhile, I have scoped out four or five parking spots in each place I frequent that are "worthy." The rest...no. I've waited in the parking lot for half an hour for one of "my spots" to open. I have learned to never, ever compromise...or the risk the worst!!!

Other than that, I pretty much park anywhere.
Yikes. Good tip. I will keep this in mind now...

I park bonnet out and as far forward as possible. That way it's easier to get outa there and others know the slot is taken. Most of the time I can get a spot right in front of where I'm going. (my family refers to those as 'Don spots')

Question, why not many pictures in this thread?

I look for oversize spots, (most of the time they are the last spot in the aisle. If there is a curb I open my door and when I am backing into the spot I am making sure I am near the curb without curbing my wheels!

Here is a spot I found, it is the last spot in the row, not the first.

I usually try to park right in the middle of the spot, that way i know i have enough room in front of me in case someone pulls to far forward, and so the spot looks filled. unless i am at work than i park all kinds of crazy. I found out you CAN take up just one spot while pulling in at a 45 degree angle and how to take up 4 spots with the MINI!! lol

Centered between the lines, end closest to the aisle aligned with the cars to either side. Nothing special.

At home I combat park (habit). Any other parking lots--I mix in with everyone else. The faraway spots, to me, are too conspicuous and attract jackasses. Better to just park with the crowd and not stress out too much.

Holy *%!$, Batman! Here in NJ we don't get spots that big, unless they are for the handicapped. One could easily put two of us in that spot. Most of the spots I find around my area are so small that the Ghost looks like it is a full sized car. (my Envoy completely fills the spots from line to line and it is not all THAT big.)

Parking the MINI is much less of a problem than parking my Harley. With both I park so the rear is visible and I take up the width of the space.

My Colorado Crewcab has the opposite problem and I am frequently "hanging out"...

Ditto! I haven't seen parking spots THAT big in a LONG time! It would be really funny to see if you can put two MINIs in that spot without going over the outside lines...

Seems like this is an appropriate commercial for this thread!

After having owned MI MINI for 6 plus years I find I seldom pull a full size car far enough into a parking spot. I get out look, get back in and pull up farther in the parking spot.

When the weather warms up I will check to see if the spot is still that big or if it has been re-striped. If it has not I will arrange to fit two cars in the spot. It will take trust and folded in mirrors I am guessing to pull it off.

I agree with most - I park far away next to a curb. Most of the time, it works. There have been times when I pull through and I return from my shopping. What do I see? Some blankety-blank parked inches from my boot! I have to pull up and out of the spot to put my purchases in the boot. Very annoying. I have left a very nice note thanking them for parking so close that I couldn't get into the back of my car!

Dude, I happened to see it while I was fast-forwarding a show on the Tivo! I always stop and rewind when I see a MINI or Apple commercial. I was laughing so hard I was crying! I thought of this thread immediately!

Wow, that's so great. I showed it to everybody in psychology dept. today, and we were just cracking up! I totally want to park my car like that!

I almost always back in, makes for a quick gettaway.

This happened at Costco to me, the cart parking is just behind me.

So I recommend parking near the aisle. Love that video!!!!
