In the Jan 2009 issue of Esquire on page 28 I found this


If you go to magfacts.org you will find all this data in support of placing adds in magazines. What's funny to me is that they use a car (MINI) to make this point when it's one of the least run ads in the Auto industry.

I guess the MINI is a tool of influence.

 

The MINI's influence is a little more subtle than an 'in-your-face' mag blurb, I think.

 

Mini ads are different to say the least. It wasn't until after a test drive they kinda made sense. For me an ad didn't have any influence --- ahh the testdrive

 

If I read an ad that simply touts price and terms, that tells me the car's worth less than what they're asking.

The purpose of the mag ad is to get you to a dealership. At that point, it's up to the dealer: Are they pushy? Does their showroom smell bad or look really dated? Is the vehicle crap? Importantly for our society, does the vehicle say the right thing about me as the driver, or does it shout "HEY - HE GOT A CHEAP LEASE!"
