Just test drove a MINI
What's a 2000# market adjustment, does that mean 2K below MSRP?
Now the big question. My pickup truck is doing fine and will probably do fine for a long time. It's an 02 with 96K miles on it. Just having the itch for a new car.
Is now a good time to buy, or should I wait longer and see if prices will fall?
And if now is a good time, what offer should I present to the dealer, I was thinking MSRP with a free rear mounted bike rack and white bonnet stripes. Is this too much to ask? Or is it too much? Someone mentioned to ask for the extended warranty to be thrown in.
Can the extended warranty be bought later?

I know of a couple that purchased an 08 MCS that was sitting on the dealer's lot for 2 months(someone ordered and did not take delivery) for $500 below MSRP and free racing stripes(which they shamelessly advertised as a $1000 accessory) and some other free accessory(scotchgard or something). This was at Knauz Mini in IL.
There's two points at which I'll consider approaching the dealer with the current economy.
The first being right now. Like someone said- build what you want, bring in to different dealers(or fax) along with what you want. I'm pretty sure they'll move, especially so if it is one sitting on their lot. If price is really non-negotiable, then bank on free stuff. You can research what the invoice for Minis are and offer slightly above that. Dealers make money by selling above invoice and also from manufacturers when they sell the vehicles. In other words, they still make a profit if they sell them at invoice(obviously dealers, especially Minis, will never do this since Mini's manufacturer incentives are so low) from incentives given by the manufacturer. However, times are tough so just hardball them. :P
The second point in time would be when the factory reopens after their extended closure. This one is a gamble that could pay off or bring you back to square one(or at the very most give dealers reason not to drop price). If current stock does not get sold after the closure, they'll be more than desperate to sell. If it does get sold, then you're in the same position as before.
Regarding your truck, I would sell now if possible. It's winter(more people needing/wanting 4 wheel drive) and gas prices are very very low. Both are pluses for trucks. Oh and yes, the extended warranty can be bought later. However, I believe this can be a freebie because the warranty work would be mainly labor cost to the dealer and cost price of parts. At the same time, they are taking a gamble that you won't cash in on the warranty. :P

I ordered my MINI on Oct.29 from Flow MINI in W-S. It is currently in production phase. I have the MC/S ordered, with all options stickered for just under 30K. Only doing a two year lease since this is my first MINI. Two years, 10,000@ $398@, with $2500 down. I think this was a good deal, any thoughts, anyone??
Last April 08 I had the dealer throwing in maybe upto $900 of extras, installation included.. I go back many months later (2009 model year) they gave me the "we arent going to give you anything because we do not have to(you wont buy anyway) because our Minis sell themselves in this period of high gas prices cold shoulder" So since i am in the military and currently deployed I can buy a MINi for about $2000 under MSRP... However because of the reliability issues with these cars I would rather lease which means i will have to deal with the states side dealer...
I would say it would be a miracle if you get anything under MSRP but they should at least throw Some stuff if they want to sell... I think you should be abkle to get alittle more out of them...

I've been researching MINIs for a while. My wife made an appointment for me to go test drive one this morning.
Test drove a Blue MINI Cooper S with automatic. It was very fast, a lot more pickup than I imagined it would have imagined. The cornering was nice also.
I sat down to research how much everything would cost. They have over 100 MINIs on the lot.
It will be MSRP + 495$ (documentation fee) + tax and title. I said is the MSRP set in stone, the answer is yes. But he said he'll ask his manager. He tells me he'll throw in the floormats and 250$ credit towards accessories.
Is this a good deal? Could I get more in accessories?
I told him I wasn't really going to get a car until early next year, but thanks, I'll keep in touch.
Thanks.

I know I've seen some posts where I've thought "what a jerk!" and seen some other posts by "haters" but when I didn't see anything like that in this one and then saw that post, I got confused. Thanks for clearing that up.
