MINI 50 Years is a good, casual starting point for MINI information. If I remember correctly, it's a followup to a previous book the author wrote on the history of Minis.

you want history of ALL the minis or just the new mini? wikipedia isn't bad for a summary of the old and new mini. other than that, there're a few good books, one of which is complete classic mini by rees. it covers every model from beginning to end, and even has a little blurb about the r50
