A Call to Action

Good afternoon all,

This is my first post. Just got my Mini, PWPW, two weeks ago. I am stepping up from a Ford Expedition. So I am at my local car wash getting both the Expd and the Mini washed. I ask the attendant what it is going to cost to get the Mini washed. He tells me the posted price. I say "Less two dollars, right." He looks at me all puzzled. I point to the Expedition and tell him "I've been comming here for ten years with that car and you charge me two extra bucks oversize vehicle charge everytime." He says "nope that's the price." I say "It only seems fair that if you charge me extra for oversize you ought to cut me a break for Minisize." He's not buying it.

I think with the orgaizational power of NAM we can lobby the various carwash associations for a universal discount for Minis.

Who's with me?!

Cheers,

Mark

Congrats on your MINI and welcome to NAM. Your point to the car wash attendant was most logical, especially taking into consideration the extra charge for your Expedition. Pity he nixed it. Best of luck with the lobbying. I'll hit one of those sites soon.

I think it is a crime to take your new Mini to an automatic carwash.

Mark, you have a very valid point about the discount your MINI deserves.

BUT, NOBODY and I do mean NOBODY touches my MINI...
Anyone touches my MINI and I'll buzzem up..

Take the time to do it right and do it yourself..

New MINI at a public car wash ?

On the other hand, welcome to NAM ! And seriously. If you're just a car owner, you can wash the car with a sponge or take it to a drive thru carwash. But if your a MINI enthusiast as you appear to be, start out with a couple of 5 gallon buckets, a pair of grit guards, and a good microfiber or lambswool wash mitt. And invest in a couple of waffle weave towels.

You'll be on your way to maintaining your paint's condition.

If you decide to get serious after that, visit the Detailing 101 forum and you'll be A M A Z E D at how much info is there on how to make your MINI more beautiful than the day you picked it up.

agreed...takes me longer to get the stuff out than it does to wash it. although i must admit....for the amount of money i have invested in car care products i could take it to a car wash 3 times a week for the rest of my life

Five minutes ? Not sure how you manage that. Takes me that long on the wheels alone. Takes me about 12 minutes to wash, 5 minutes to dry. Then another 7 or 8 minutes to dry the bits and pieces... wheels, tires, door jambs, rain channels, etc.

Anyone that is washing and drying their MINI in five minutes is either an octopus or not doing a great job.

Just sayin'.
