General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Is it just me or does almost every MINI owner in the Bay Area not wave? I am mostly in Mountain View, San Jose and Fremont areas and since I have bought my car in March, only two people waved to me, and I see MINIs all the time, especially in Mountain View. I feel sad!
Hehe I guess it is because my girlfriend and I have made this thing out of pointing out every MINI we see. So when I roll up next to one or one rolls up next to me on the freeway I am always ready to wave.
Does anyone on here travel down Moffett Field Blvd. often?
Any details? I haven't been to any meets yet although I have been interested.
Check out Redwood Empire MINI Enthusiasts. www.redwoodempiremini.com We are the largest MINI club in Northern California, and the most active. We do runs generally every month, and have lots of other events too. Local get-togethers, car shows, local runs, etc. Membership is free (club swag is available, and purchases are appreciated, as it helps suppost the club), and the more the merrier!
I waved. I didn't get 1 wave back in the past 2months so I basically stopped. I'm usually up in the East Bay area every other weekend. So far 0 waved back.
Is it customary to wave? I test drove a Mini, don't have one just yet but hopefully soon, in San Jose a coupleof weeks ago and someone in a Mini, just like the one I was driving, waved at me. It was a hanging half way out the window wave. I got so excited and my sister freaked out cause my hand wasn't on the wheel. I always spot Minis and will always wave to them!

I am just use to waving from when I had my WRX a few years ago when all the WRX people use to wave, but I think the waving scene has died out since in the Subaru world.
Hi - I've only had my Mini a couple of months and my DH and kids would laugh at me because I'd wave at other minis and not get a wave back so I stopped. But, recently, I've had several minis wave at me so I'm giving it another try LOL!
If someone waves at me, I might wave back but don't expect it as I don't ever look at other drivers directly most of the time. Just a bit of paranoia on my part cuz when I was younger, before the common use of cell phones, had a bit of a road rage incident that really left a bad taste in my mouth on trusting other drivers.
I wave at EVERY Mini I see. I even wave at Minis when I am driving my pick up truck. My wife has to remind me that I am not in my Mini. I wave, I honk, and if I can I follow and tag them (that's with a REME card). Most of all I smile
As 70Spop says, drop by Redwood Empire Mini Enthusiasts, we are very active and we all wave!!
From my experience when other MINI drivers pass me they never look at me, and then I end up not waving because they always seem like they are in a rush
