Any results yet? Has it alerted you to a potential speed trap?

Well, you know what's going to happen next...the cops are going to subscribe to Trapster and call in speed trap locations when they aren't even there. It'll slow people down and they won't even have to run radar there. I was a cop for thirty years and I always put my car where people could see me. I worked in Aspen for fifteen years and I would call the local radio station and ask them to tell their listeners where I was setup. The goal was to get folks to slow down not write tickets. There's no end to the fun everybody can have with this one.

Definitely a possibility.

Also if gas got expensive enough ($5-6+ a gal) people might stop speeding and then where would the cops get their $$$? Or does it go to the state general fund?

Although I think it is technically impossible for me not to speed. Heck I exceed speed limits on my bicycle by 20+mph on a daily basis. I can sprint 40mph on a flat.

I always think of speeding tickets as donations, or paychecks.

Why would you do that? It won't tell you how long a backup is or where those bumper killing shredded tires are.

I'm adding Trapster to my setup as just one more bit of useful road condition information.

Signed up a few months ago but for weeks it wouldn't accept my login, tried today and it worked. Uploading to the Garmin now, so here's a bump to get more motorers using it so we can get more recon info about those twisties!

I just discovered www.Trapster.com today after reading about it in the Free Motor Trend I get thanks to MINI USA.

Cool Site. I'm not a tech guy, I still don't know how to many of the thing here on NAM that others do, but have found setting up my acct in Trapster easy.

It's a very local system and will work best with more and more local people plugged into it.

I have the text alert setup with my phone, incoming text are free for me, and I have also found the local maps very useful.

I'll be trying to download map data into my Garmin later this week.

I encourage you to sign up, use it and post it in your local threads too.

It'd be easier if the cops just told you where they were going to be, like they do in North Wales. Really handy in the land of the 'Mad mullah of the traffic Taliban'.

(That link doesn't seem to be working at the moment, but when it does it tells you where speed traps are scheduled to be.)
