MINI S v. Volvo C30
Although our test car was not equipped with a limited-slip differential, leaving the DSC active did a decent job of simulating the option.
Edit: The Volvo C30 interior is a work of art, I love it. The exterior I could give or take.
I got to thinking about this a little, and really, it's not a fair to compare the C30 with the mini... it should be compared with the A3, the GTI or the Clubman... the only reason why I say this is because all of these cars can accomodate 4 adults AND has useable cargo space to boot. The mini really isn't suitable for 4 normal sized human beings... We've tried that once or twice with the wife's mini... of all the cars on this list the C30 and the A3 would be best suited for rear passenger room, and let's face it, you've got next to no room for cargo in the Mini with the seats up.
Like I've said in previous posts, it's not a matter of which car is best, it's which car is best for you, and only you can answer that question. I love the way my wife's mini handles, I'd considered an 07 mini, but I needed mor room for additional passengers and cargo. I thought the new GTI style was boring, and the A3 looks too much like a small station wagon.
If I could get the gas mileage and handling of the Mini, with the style and power of the C30, combined with the cargo space of the GTI or A3, and throw in AWD and now we're talking... :-)
