1200mi+ (little over a day) without rest (and no co-driver) and plenty comfy 80k in little over 2 years.

Super comfy! I've taken Cooper/Cpt. Nemo on a few long trips with my husband and we both enjoyed the ride! We really want to take it to Maine this year but don't know if we can fit all the luggage for a week+ and a 65 lb dog in there. I think we need a roof rack...

Maybe you need a Clubman

I've had a lot of fun pulling the trailer with the mini, gives me a trunk like a Cadillac, and it's DETACHABLE! Better fuel mileage too (less wind resistance). I'd like to find a cargo trailer with mini styling cues, but haven't been "there" (financially or aesthetically) yet. Even with the Brave Little Trailer (BLT) loaded with tools on the back the MCS is plenty spunky, and tows GREAT. If I had bigger than 8" wheels on the trailer it wouldn't even limit my speed that much (I try to keep it under 75-ish with those little wheels, even though they're C load rated and plenty sturdy, they spin like little banshees back there).

MINIWV you're not that far away, consider coming to some PittStop events here in the 'burgh! You can see the BLT... it'd be great for a trip to Maine! Bikes, luggage, and put Dogster in the Mini!

It's something I'm considering for the future. I want to see them out first. Test drive one. I really didn't like the idea of the Clubman at first but the whole idea is growing on me.

Trouble with a roof rack is that there's a terrible amount of wind resistance. Dogs aren't usually too aerodynamic...

The dealership had 2 cabrios in BRG the day I bought mine. The one had a cruise control the other didn't. After 18 years in field service I can't imagine not having a cruise control. That made the decision for me even when the price was about 1K more.

Whatever you do, make sure you order the MFSW--only way you can get cruise control!

Not to mention the howling, right? Poor hound...

I love that you call it a BLT!

I just learned of PittStop a few days ago from a fellow MINI owner and member of PittStop. I have been checking out the website and I'd really love to go to events like that.

Actually I might take you up on that, I've been curious to see a Mini with something in tow!

MINIWV and miniuette: We've got some great stuff coming, and a full website redo as well. It was good, it's getting even better... and you'll see the BLT in tow for the winter event for sure! My MCS has had that trailer as far as Charleston WV from here, and all around the Elkview/Clendenin area on two church/building trips. It's kind of a blast to hit the backroads with a trailer on, especially if you know the trailer, have done the maintenance and building, and can drive somewhat spiritedly (but safely, of course...)

I just took a 4500 mile road trip. Drove 4500 miles in a total of 4 days in my 03 MCS R53....2200 miles one way and then back. I did take a week rest between each trip though

The car was a champ. No problems and it only ate up 1/4 quart of oil.
