The "don't tell me what your total is" was great!!!!!

My most memorable one was a friend, first seeing my Mini and saying "Ok lets go for a ride so you can show me why exactly you bought this thing..." (he was completely clueless about Minis)

Sits down, slides the seat back; "I have more leg room in here than my Ford Explorer...."

After a ride; "I think my kidneys are touching, I want one."

Last night I came out of the grocery store, and a woman started talking about how she loved my car and has always wanted one. Then she started putting her groceries into her Mercedes S550

Love it! I catch people checking out my car like that all the time and then getting into the Lexus or the Mercedes. I always just think to myself 'and you thought you were so cool when you bought that until you realized how much fun we MINI drivers are actually having.'

After talking about a thread on another list about the Speed TV survey:
http://www.speedtv.com/news/

Jim cam up with the quip:
"If I wanted to watch Nascar, I'd flush a bag of Skittles down the toilet and bet on which color would win"

Several people want T-shirts of that.

Having driven nothing but Benz's for a 10 year period, I can understand that.

Well, I was leaving the gym to my car in the parking lot, and this lady was leaning on the hood of my car talking to a guy who was leaning on his car, parked next to mine, and as I approached, she gave the typical, "Oh, i'm so sorry..." As I was entering the car, she was telling me how beautiful the car was and that it was one of her dream cars that she always wanted to own....blah blah blah"

A few months ago I made a lunch run to the grocery store. I get my stuff and proceed to the checkout. As I am paying the cashier referred to me as the MINI. Since she saw me pull in while she was having a smoke.

Win!!!

I get the most compliments from Harley riders, which kind of surprises me. But without fail if one is filling up while I'm at the pump he always comes up to talk to me about it.

One guy probably in his late 60's came to ask how I liked the car. He said he was amazed at how customizable the cars were and he was thinking of getting one.

Last summer I got "the nod" from a 60ish vet driver on the Parkway. It just made my day.

I was getting gas. A guy in a similar color new (still with paper plates) GTI pulls up to the pump at the other island. Walks over, looks over my car, doesn't say anything. Goes back to his car, shakes his head and says, "damn."

Nascar Skittles T-Shirts

If you are looking for a T-shirt with that quote, look here:

www.cafepress.com/ricksrepair

If I wanted to watch Nascar I'd flush a bad of skittles down the toilet and bet on which color would win.

This happened last night on the way home from work. I was at a stoplight, and this "ricer" pulls up in the lane next to me - '90-something Honda Civic, coffee-can exhaust, 3ft rear wing, BBS-ish wheels, etc. He starts tooting his horn, so I look over and see him enthusiastically giving me the thumbs-up.

Had we been at the front of the line, I would have blown his doors off when the light turned.

Nice woman in her '70's getting into her new Jaguar at Trader Joe's:
Oh honey, I LOVE your MINI! Wish I'd gotten one like that!
My Jag's nice, but MINI's have soul!

Okay, so this isn't really a comment, but...... I was going through a parking lot yesterday, where they had speed bumps done as Mt. Everest models. There was a moving van parked by the side of one I was driving over. Next to the truck was the driver, on his cell phone. As I climbed the crest of the bump, the driver's mouth opened in surprise and, as he pointed to my car, his cell phone dropped into a water/ice puddle. I felt kind of guilty.

Was challenged by a guy in a 330 BMW at a stop light...I guess I was better in accelerating with my tuned engine but when he pulled up next to me at the next light, he gave me a big thumbs up.

Was being tailgated last week by three Bubbas in a rusted out, oil burning pickup with a gun rack in the back window. As they roared by me the Bubba riding shotgun stuck his head out the window and gave me a thumbs up. In this part of the woods you would expect the barrel of a shot gun, not a thumbs up.

it was the third day i had the car and i just detailed it myself to get all of those automatic car wash swirl marks out of the paint and the dust out from b/t the stack and radio. i flew by a new 06 V6 Mustang with the windows down and at the next light the girlfriend in the passenger seat of the ford leans out over her boyfriend and says "I like yours better!" it was a great moment in MINI history.
