do some hardcore bmw people hate mini's?

so i was reading about bmw company stuff on wikipedia and got to the related companies section and under mini it described it as something to the effect of a mediocre hatchback trying undeservedly to cash in on the rally heritage, etc. similarly unflattering things were said about the new mini in the rover section. (needless to say, someone soon rectified the situation w/ something more balanced and accurate) but that led me to think that some hardcore bimmer fans might not like us. i was thinking about joining bmwcca for a while but now i'm afraid there'll be some yuppie snobs who think my car isn't good enough for them?

My BMWCCA experiences are limited to HPDE events (track days). There, people don't care what you drive, they only care if you drive well and courteously.

Things might be different in the wine tasting circle, though.

I haven't noticed anything myself, but I'm sure you still have your fanatics both in the BMW camp and in the classic Mini camp. The only thing that seem to assuage the British car folks is the fact that all MINIs are made in Oxford.

No one is stopping them from buying the company and doing whatever the heck they want with it.

road, do you think this discussion belongs in General MINI Talk rather than in Off Topic? It will get more attention in that forum. Let me know if you'd like me to move the thread.

Alas you will find those types anywhere you go and as of this date, even BMW doesn't have an IQ requirement for purchase... Join and enjoy!
