I get about 17 miles to the gallon. This in an 05 MSC manual. It is all city driving, and i am a teenager but there is no way i am driving that agressivly enough o get milage like that. Maybe i am doing my calculations wrong?

How do you guys calculate mileage?

Next time you go to the gas station, fill up the tank completely. Reset your trip odometer. The next time you visit the gas station, fill up the tank completely. Divide the number on your trip odometer by the number of gallons you just pumped.

The OBC is a little optimistic on mileage.

That's about what I get with my 06 MCSa (calculated, not the OBC). It used to be around 22-23 when I first got him 2 years ago, now with 16K miles it has improved a few points.

And yes, I also find the OBC reading to be a bit generous.

MCS 05 , no mods, 6speed
22.5 consistantly
VERY spirited, city driving, short trips.
drive it hard and fast, or go buy a corrolla or something for the mpg

My 2007 MCS is getting a bit more than 31 mpg on my winter tires in mostly rural, mountain driving. It was doing a couple mpg better on my summer tires.

OK everyone... don't hate... I leave my tach on the current mpg, not the avg mpg so I'm always watching the number go up and down...
On 90% of our roads, which are pretty durn flat, I avg between 50-60mpg, now when i get on some of our hilly roads I avg around 40-45. I don't live in or close to any major cities so I have no traffic to deal with, but when I go through Houston or Dallas I do avg between 35 - 40. When I checked my avg mpg on tach it said I was at 41mpg... I guess I'm just lucky

How do you change from avg to current?

I agree, it seems to have a variance of 2 or more mpgs at times.

press the OBC button, you will see an avg mpg that does not move for lengthy periods of time, and you will see a current mpg that fluctuates nonstop

On my 8 hour 35 minute trip up to the Boston area I got 40 miles per gallon. My average speed was probably about 65 with little variances and I did about 95% of it on the highway. I used the cruise control most of the time.

On my way back, I got about 39 mpg. My speeds varied a lot: some stop and go while passing through NY city, 50mph at times in the rain while in CT, NJ and PA and around 80mph at times while in PA and MD. I rarely used my cruise.

Believe it or not, 80mph is the fastest I've ever driven in Tux.

34 average so far. Mostly twisties with some highway. Not much in town. Every one seems to say the OBC is off. Mine has been with 1 mpg of my own calculations every time.

It varies... as good as 39.7MPG and as lousy as 11MPG (ridiculous accelerations in stop and go traffic- I was actually trying to see how low I could go)

2003 MCS 6spd.... hoping my new ALTA intake will bump me up a mile or two.

Has anyone seen much difference in their Clubman S vs MCS?

Am I the only one here averaging low 20's? I'm currently in Boston, in the winter season moving on to spring. Mid winter I got 18 a gallon. Now I'm getting 20 to 21 per gallon. I drive very conservatively (shifting before or at 3K RPMS) and about 60% City 40% highway. Using 93 Shell Gas. Should I expect higher numbers in the summer? Everyone else is posting, 30's and 40's and even 50's. Sounds impossible to me...

I am in the same boat. I was getting about 27 with mixed city highway but now about 24. I am not saying anyone is overstating their MPG, but like many things boosting about MPG's seems to be common.
