General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Well. not entirely off topic, since we're talking mainly about Mini buying. We always have a nice chat with Crystal when we're there for service. Dark blond, nordic looking?
Anyway, it does pay to shop around. Sometimes it's the deal, sometimes it's chemestry.
Agreed - and I do admit, I started off not happy, I got on the road at 0630 on a Harley to be at the Dealer for our meeting at 0800 and then had to wait an hour - then to hear within a few min of talking that they were charging $999 and $1999 AND it was a 3 month wait - I had just been at EB the week before and was told MSRP and 6 weeks??????? I will say she did answer all my questions and after I ask - she opened all the cars and let me sit as much as I wanted - I did not ask nor did she offer a test ride... After she said the $999 and I said - I just came from EB and they are selling at MSRP - She knew she had most likly lost the deal - If a dealer is that quick to play games, I can only imagine what might be ahead - like you said - Chemestry was not there and she was a nice looking gal - too bad -
The drive to EB is actually closer by 30 min anyway.
So weird, because EB hit us with the mark up, and Neillo didn't. EB told us three months for the car plus $1000 deposit, Niello delivered in six weeks, no deposit. EB was closer, but didn't strike us as wanting to make a sale.

OK - now I think you are just playing with me - According to new friends that have bought from EB in the past and from everything I have learned EB has been at MSRP {if not from the start} for quite some time - I can give you the date/time and who I talked to -

East Bay MINI has been MSRP since Day 1 ... my MCS was ordered April 26, 2002 in their first allotment for customer spec cars.
I test drove a mini i liked at EB and it had 150 miles so i asked for it below msrp but they wouldn't. They said if you want a new one then i'd have to order it. It was at msrp and i got it in 2 months. Ordering is the way to go.

$1000 deposit, or markup? Two different things.
One is earnest money so they have less chance of being stuck with a 'custom built' vehicle.
The other is money over and above MSRP.

Yes we know, two different things. It was those two issues that turned us away from EB to towards Niello.
