I bought a PW Mini with the intentions of having it repainted thinking it would be a good base colour...however, Hurricane Wilma took care of that idea and I bought another Mini. Purple Haze with a white roof to which I promptly took to the paint shop and had the white roof painted red and added a red checkmate pattern on the front quarter panels.

Also I have (or at least I think I have) come to the conclusion that people who have cars that are white are afraid of change, standing out in a crowd or otherwise being identified as an individual...which may or may not be true for Mini owners...but I think so anyway....maybe I am over thinking this whole thing... .

add another guy to the list. I don't know why it would be percieved as a "girl thing", white is just a classic color. I like the way it contrasts with the black roof, but I do wish it was more of a pure white (you should have seen me shudder when I registered my car. The cop filling out my form wrote the color as "tan").

I'm thinking about getting a 2nd generation mini in a year or so, and I'll probably get pepper white again

sajpogi, where are you at in New Orleans?

I love the white, it has a really sophisticated and elegant look to it. It doesn't give the impression of many of other colors. It's a very sharp color.

I would get the white again, but having two white coopers would just be awkward.

diabolik! Where in New Orleans am I? I am near Jefferson Hwy close to Ocsher Hospital. You are from Luliing? Have you joined our group here called Gulf South Motoring? If you haven't yet, then you better register soon! We have runs every month. We need more PW!

Agreed...I have a friend who recently finished a full restoration of a classic Mini Cooper S. It is now pure white w/ a black roof...very classic. And gorgeous.

Honestly isn't this guy/girl stuff pretty silly. Not that we can't discuss silly things, of course.

I had never thought of that, but now that I think about it most of the PW owners I know of are women. Not all, but a lot.

There a LOT of PW cars in the Orlando area. I think it's definitely the most popular color around here. Perhaps even more so with the Florida sun. I admit I am a big fan of the PW color, but I wanted to be different and went opposite - AB/W. I do not think of any of the colors for a MINI as more male or female. In my experience its really an individual thing more than a gender thing. Do want to do stand out or go classic and refined? Do you want to be bright and bold and elegant and sophisticated? Or do just want to look REALLY FAST?

When I was shopping for my car, PW was the only color that I dismissed out of hand. Wasn't interested in it from day one.

*runs away from all the pissed-off rabid PW fanatics*

Hey Pop, thanks for your opinion; recognizing that it's only one among tens of thousands,is likely an outlier, and carries no more weight than anyone else. I'm sure we could find equal numbers of MINI fanatics who had your same knee-jerk aversion to LY (like me) and every other color on the configurator. It's strictly a personal thing. If you check out the PW Peerage, I think you'll find a lot of people (male and female) that probably don't care what you think.

I'm not sure what you hope to gain by running into the room, farting, and then running out other than to add to the malodorous nature that this thread has assumed...

I didn't offer an opinion, merely stated a fact. PW is a nice looking color (now I've offered an opinion) and I've seen a lot of PW MINIs that I've really liked. I just wasn't interested in getting one.

The rest of your comments perfectly illustrate the "rabid PW fanatic" thing - "how dare you say anything against Pepper White!! THE GREATEST COLOR EVER!!!!" PW owners, I've observed, tend to be more fanatical about and protective of their color choice than owners of other colors. It's OK. It's just what I've observed. I'm not one of the PW True Believers, so I don't quite get it, but more power to the rest of you.

Mick, I never thought of your MINI as a "red-hatter" thing, but that is really cool! I feel I should "warn" Chris (CR&PW&JB) that in the "real world" you are a cop.

Okay, I'll give you that my reply was a complete over-reaction and I fell into your trap like a blind fool. Though, it sure seemed like your original post (#1 above) was dissing PW just for the sake of preying on vulnerable folk like me...and I have to believe that I'm not the only one who could be puzzled that the statements #1 and #2 above are shared by the same person.

Cripes, I've been called a fem (see thread title) and a fanatic--all in one day and all in one thread--so please excuse my sensitivity. I'll try to do better.

No prob. Sorry, didn't mean to "trap" you. Just a playful jab at the PW owners, 'cause I know how they/you really like the color.

...like I said: OFF MY ROCKER!

I have to confess, though, PW is a very popular colour here in Key West and when I had my PW Mini, whenever one of the others would get pulled over, I would get all this razzing from my buddies....so, out of self-defense, I had to do something really different...:impatient
