Towing with the MINI???

In Oct I need to drive to LA/CA and pick up an "Empty" 5X8 Cargo trailer - it weights 1000 pound... From what I have been reading the Mini does have a 1000 pound tow rating??? For you long time Mini owners.... Is this something that I really can do - It is empty but taller than the Mini???

I pull a 4x6 cargo trailer fully stuffed with parts behind my MINI. I use, sell, and install the Mini Fini hitch. I pulled mine to the Dragon last year.
