Not the news I wanted to hear...
So the other night I go to let someone in my passenger side door...and the lock won't pop up. So then I got in the car and tried it manually with the switch in the middle console...still nothing. It looks like it is trying, but stuck or something. So I got crabby since I have only owned the car for about a month and a half. It is an 05 MCS with one previous owner. Anyway, so my boyfriend went to talk to the dealership where I bought it (Saturn) and they said it would be covered under the warranty that was left on it, but would have to travel to the nearest MINI/BMW dealership to have them fix it...which is 2 1/2 hours away. So it might be free to be fixed, but will cost my 50 bucks and most of a day to get it fixed....argh.
Does anybody have any ideas of what could be wrong to maybe take the door apart ourselves and see if we could fix it? Thanks for any advice or input

This just happend to my drivers side a couple of weeks ago. It would still lock and unlock with a key, but not with the remote or the inside switch. (no sounds of anything moving were happening in the door) I checked all the wires and fuses and they were all ok. It turned out that the locking mechanism had dies (also controls the windows, but it that part was ok).
I ended up ordering the part from Classic Mini and put it in myself in about a 1/2 hour. I am way out of warrenty, and a good 4 hours from the closest dealer. It was $105.00 + shipping. It wasn't that hard of a job, doing anything on the inside of the door is alittle tricky, the hardest part was getting the old one out its alittle bulky.
It might end up costing you about the same either way
5 hours of driving + time off work might be alittle more than doing it yourself??

Go to the dealer. You can always make a day of it wherever the dealer is.
Hey xsmini! Did you happen to see a BRG/W Mini cruise through your town last month? We were on our way to southern Nevada to visit the wife's folks. Highway 168 out of Big Pine is AWESOME!

No I missed you
. Oh well next time. Yes, 168 is an awesome road, one of my favorites! Think it was fun in your Mini, try it in a classic - even more fun. Thats the route we take when going to AMVIV, or to get the Mini serviced in Vegas.Nik
thanks everybody for your help! It was so odd, the day after I posted this....I got in and it unlocked like nothing had happened....so I got super excited! But then the next day, it decided to not work again....hmph!
