Dealerships?

Anyone care to share their experiences with the Mini dealerships? More specifically my dealership would be Rasmussen Mini in Portland. I'm going to be in the market for my next car soon and its either going to be a VW Rabbit 4 door, or a Mini non-s. The main thing driving me away from getting a VW right now is the overall consensus that VW dealers suck and service is a gamble at best.

As well, do any of you guys do maintainence on the new Mini non-s yourself? I was planning on being able to do atleast the basics indepedent of the dealer, ie. oil and oil filters. How easy is it and where do you guys source the filters?

Thanks!

Rasmussen in Portland has been awesome! Service has been great as well. They are very accomodating for your every need. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I am still in the extreme low mileage range so I have not had to service my MINI myself.....still covered by maintence plan.

Rasmussen is a great dealership!! My MA is Dan and he has been very helpful throughout the whole ordering and waiting process. He even sent me an extra Mini keychain for my wife. I didn't ask him to, he just did it after finding out that she was jealous of mine. (She has the Astro Black Mini that is listed in my signature pic). I've also heard that Jarid is just as easy and helpful.

They have a top notch service department. We've only had scheduled maintenance performed and a one or two small things to be fixed on my wifes '05 MCSa.

I'm due to pick up my R56 from them in about two weeks. So far, I'd highly recommend them with 5 stars out of 5 and two thumbs up

We haven't done any maintenance yet ourselves. You can order the filters from the dealer or you can also get them from Minimania.com
I know someone has posted links to them somewhere in the 2nd Generation Forum but I don't recall exactly in which thread but it was a kit of two filters and o-rings.

I was in Walla Walla last month. We took my MINI to get there. One full tank took care of the around-the-trip... Average mpg was 38.

I agree with tdm156. I got my MINI in May. They are great people to work with, especially MA, Larry Larson. Just an FYI, be sure to make an appointment. When you log on to their web site, it allows you to do so. Otherwise, you migh be ended up waiting for long time. The dealership is closed on Sundays....

You may want to post in this topic instead, it is specific for the Pacific Northwest. But then again it looks like you are getting some responses fairly quickly.

Are they (Rasmussen) mod-friendly? I ask because I will be spending a significant amount of time there later in the year and may need service.

Don't know if anything has changed since, but I bought a Jetta new and hated the dealer/service experience. The fact that the car had a bunch of problem just exagerrated the problem.

I cannot yet comment on MINI, especially your dealer in question, except that they have been pretty useless before and during the ordering process... I'll see in a few weeks once my car arrives.
