if i ever had cash to pay for a brand new car, i would go to the dealership wearing the worst looking cloths i could find. who ever would help me that's who i would buy the car from.

there was this farmer guy in my town that went to a local chevy dealership to buy some trucks for his farm. the chevy dealership wouldn't help him cause he had overalls and a dirty shirt on. so he went to the ford dealership and they helped him. when it all came to pay for it the saleman said do you want to apply for a loan? he said no i'll write you a check, so when it was all over and done he paid cash for 10 F250s. once he paid for them he told the salesman to call the chevy dealership and talk to the saleman that missed out on the sale to let him know what kind of deal he missed out of. i would loved to see the looked on his face when he missed the commission on 10 trucks.

That's almost exactly what I did when I was looking to getting a Mini. Went to Assael Mini had jeans, t-shirt, flip-flops and a cap, also helped that I look like I'm 19 even though I'm 27. My sister, her husband, and I were all over the floor models they had, I think we were the only people in there as far as potential customers. There were 4 salesman on the floor and only one came up to us and asked if we were interested in a Mini. We had a 1/2 an hour of pleasant conversation, the guy was realy honest with questions he didn't have answers to. Next thing you know I'm giving him the options I want for my Mini. Fast forward 6 weeks later, I go to pick-up my Mini by myself. I'm wearing jeans, flip-flops, t-shirt and a cap, my Mini was parked outside with a sign that says "I belong to Lawrence". I was checking my Mini out and there were 2 salesman near me and they had this look on their face "oh, another looky-loo". I guess they didn't know that I was going to be the owner of that car. I go inside the showroom and asked another salesman for my dude Ike and the look on this guys face when I asked that question, priceless! I thought he was going to tell me to f*** off. I took the car for a test drive, we go back to the dealership and we start going through the process of purchasing the car, paper works, credit check, more paper works... Then came that part where he asks how I'm going to finance it/down payment and when I told him 1/2 of the final price his jaw almost droped, I guess he wasn't expecting that from someone that looked like I did. On my way to the finance office the other salesmen that ignored/giving me the looks were now congratulating me, I think they got wind of how much my down payment was. I really wanted to tell them to suck my ***** mother f***ers!!!, I chose the high road and just smiled.

One thing you guys got to remember is that Universal Mini is loacated in an area where majority of the people have sticks up their ***. So don't be surprised about the way people act in that area.

Ninja, get your Mini and drive it up to Universal Mini and look for the salesman that told you to bugg-off and the manager and do this... Put your arms around their shoulder, walk them outside, point to your Mini and tell him you paid cash for it, pat them on the chest, then just hop in your Mini and drive away.

So how about this one, I am a supervisor at my job. However I am typically wearing jeans and t-shirts, maybe a pair of 20 eye docs. Oh and a blonde mohawk. Anyway I set up the basic idea of getting the MINI through the internet sales agent at South Bay. So I make plans to show up in the morning on a Saturday. I roll in, it's pretty empty I see one rep actually finalizing a sale. The other guy is running around with his head cut off. But he does comment that he will be with me as soon as I can, I then ask for the internet sales, and we just start chatting about the MINI and the options that he has and that I am thinking about.

Got to love it when they don't care about your appearnce. I think that the BMW side was giving me looks, but I tend to not look back so I don't really notice.

At my job I have to fill out eight different forms and schedule two meetings just to fire someone. If this person worked for me, well, they wouldn't be working for me, and it'd be worth the work! (four forms really, but "eight" really hits the point!)

Anyone in any industry would agree that bad customer service is just bad business (politics aside). I'll "plus one" the other comments and suggestions about contacting as many higher ups as you can, if just on principle. I'd ad "and name names! (if you can)". Sometimes a guy (or girl) just needs their a** fired to teach 'em a lesson for life. That was me once. Once! (and look at me now! lol)

Props to the South Bay. Never even been in the showroom, don't know anyone there. Drove past it once. But I hear nothing but good things about 'em. Best part: When you take your car in for service, you can mooch chocolates off of Fireball Tim!

Post pics of the new ride! (wait- did you? i didn't look.) :I:

South Bay is great. That's where I ordered my Mini too. When my BMW lease is up, I will probably go there to get another one also.

So far I have good experience with all the Mini dealers I have visited: Assael, Long Beach, South Bay. I like it that they don't try to push you for a buy that day like most other car dealers. It is almost like they are not working on commission and just there to help.

Take it to the othe dealer and show the sales manager thanks to his stupid sales staff. When I bought my Cabrio, the sales man came out of Checker Flag MINI with the key to it in his hand telling me to take it for a spin!
